We asked our limo driver to stop because as usual, Cheryl had to pee again, (I do this quite frequently...... more than most I think....) Right before finding a restroom, with me in a state of urgency, Kevin asked for a pose as everything bustled about us - this is what I came up with in my circumstances of discomfort, a bit PO‘d at Kevin for asking actually. This photo surprisingly became yet another great moment captured on film, and later used for the cover of “All Dark Places”. This was taken the weekend we met Eric Bazilian and Billy Steinberg, (look them up - really outstanding song writers/musicians.) Kevin and I did a live performance where he played a 12 string for the first time, on the fly, in front of a huge LA crowd with loads of industry ‘big wigs‘, A&R people - what a rush! Our co-write song “All Dark Places” was critiqued by the same lot, and this helped in the direction we needed to go re: arrangement. I remember the mantra of this LA weekend was “Raise the Bar”, a buzz phrase I noticed LA-based Paula Abdul said on numerous occasions to the contestants of American Idol. Photo: Kevin Swain, 2001.
