What Does the CA_PC Merger mean to Christians?

by Ron Gray, National Leader
/

Those who have suffered under the outrages of the Liberal oligarchy, who have watched billion-dollar boondoggles and waste, banning of public prayer, promotion of same-sex “marriage”, the slaughter of more than two million babies, gambling, and moves to legalize drugs might be encouraged by the hopeful signs of a party that just might be able to end Liberal hegemony in Ottawa.

But what does the CA-PC merger really mean to the pro-life, pro-family, and pro-moral forces in Canada?

First, of course, we have to recognize that Bay Street played midwife at the birth of this baby. Both so-called “right-of-centre” parties were told that unless they merged, their funding would end. Their media support was drying up, too.

Second, this is really mixing oil and water. Any “blue” Tories who were interested in going to Reform/Alliance had already jumped long ago. All that was left in the party of Joe Clark and Peter MacKay were “red” Tories - Liberals-in-waiting.

Third, Senator Pat Carney said Thursday morning on CBC Radio that she'd read the 17-point policy agreement that cinched the deal - and as a "red" Tory, she was happy with it. What, then, can it possibly offer the Christian minority in the Alliance cauc us? Zilch.

They get a partnership with the party of Joe Clark - the Grand Marshal of the Calgary Gay Pride Parade. They get a partnership with the party of Peter MacKay - one of whose leading lights (and possible leadership contender) is self-identified homosexua l MP Scott Brison. They get a partnership with Peter MacKay himself - the man who got the Tory leadership by signing an agreement to have no truck nor trade with the Alliance, and who says he shares Joe Clark’s pro-abortion, pro-gay views. Of course, the Alliance already ha d Keith Martin, the pro-abortion doctor, who served as their deputy health critic.

They already had Rahim Jaffer, who reportedly recruited “gay” activist Stephane Prud’homme to be the Alliance’s candidate in Montreal.

And they already had leader Stephen Harper, who told the Calgary Herald last December “All moral issues are off the table.”

They go into this shotgun wedding (to mix metaphors) in the face of an Ipsos-Reid poll last week that said if the two parties did not merge, the Liberals would get 47% of the vote, the PC’s 15% and the CA 14% (total 29%) - but if they did merge, the L iberals would get 51 % of the vote, and the newly-merged Conservative Party of Canada would get 32%. So the Liberals gain more from the merger than the “new” Conservatives! Of course, that was with either Peter MacKay or Stephen Harper leading the CPC; if they draft Mike Harris, they’ll probably do much better - though not likely well enough to displace the Liberals. But consider Mike Harris as prime minister, if he should win: as Premier of Ontario, he was no better on moral issues like abortion, gambl ing and “gay rights” than the NDP!

Finally, Christians in Canada must realize that although most Christians are conservative (in the sense of preserving the core principles that under-gird western civilization), that does not mean that Conservative = Christian. What the church in Canada must be told - loudly, clearly, and often - is that our goal is NOT to defeat the Liberals, but to lift up the name of Jesus and the authority of Scripture.

You can be certain that will not happen with these “new” Tories.

Human Rights Gone Wrong
by Sya Strydhorst

In our previous newsletter, I gave the summary of Scott Douglas Lively's speech that helped us understand democracy in the light of Romans 13. They were Mr. Lively's concluding remarks of a speech entitled "Human Rights Gone Wrong". The provincial b oard has asked for a brief outline of the history on the success of the sodomite political agenda that were given prior to those remarks.

During the course of Mr. Lively's pro-family fight, he has come to realize that the homosexual movement is not just another special interest group; rather, this movement's goal is ultimately to overturn the Judeo-Christian ethic and is therefore the mo st destructive social force in today's western civilization. How did they become so successful?

The history of human rights

Human rights is a biblical concept. The individual has inherent dignity and worth by virtue of the fact that he is a being created in the image of his Creator God. Even if the person does not recognize the Creator, he has been instilled with an inner k nowledge of Him that could be called the natural law perspective.

During the 1600's two philosophers had a distinct influence in the Western world: John Locke, a brilliant English political philosopher who came from the creationist perspective, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, a French humanist philosopher. Locke's Two Tr eatises of Government was instrumental in causing the American Revolution, which ended in the establishment of the American Constitution. Rousseau's philosophical legacy of personal autonomy ended in the bloodbath of the French Revolution. Obviously, the se two are conflicting worldviews: The creationist believes in fixed and moral laws binding upon all people to which we are all subject. The evolutionist or secular humanist believes that we are products of random chance and that there is no external mora l truth. Hence we can make up the rules as we go.

In North America we started out with the Locke philosophical model, but it has degenerated over time. Governments have shifted to thinking that the state is sovereign and the highest authority. This is known as "legal positivism". This came to the fore in the Nuremberg war trials when Hitler's cronies used legal positivism as their defence because everything they had done during the war was made legal first and there was no jurisdiction over them. Interestingly, the West recognized that they lived by t his same philosophy. The International court re-instated natural law with the 1948 Declaration of Human Rights.

The opposing worldviews are most sharply defined when it comes to sexual morality. It is imperative for the perverted to espouse the false philosophies (evolution, communism) even though they are intellectually bankrupt because these allow them to live according to a different moral system. In order for "gays" to have legitimacy in society, they have to overthrow the Judeo-Christian ethic. Society cannot be sustained with both the Judeo-Christian standard of sex within marriage and the Humanist value o f sex outside of marriage, because they are mutually exclusive and incompatible.

What happened to human rights over time?

In 1948, Alfred Kinsey produced his notorious, statistically fraudulent Sexual Behaviour in the Human Male and with the financial backing of the Rockefeller Foundation promoted recreational sex among the college aged males. Within weeks of the first K insey report, Harry Hay, so-called father of the American homosexual movement, founded the first major "gay-rights" organization, the Mattachine Society. This society spawned a large-scale political agenda working towards the acceptance of their perverted lifestyle and the eradication of any criticism thereof.

Before this perverted lifestyle could become mainstream, a long-range plan was put into place. The framers recognized that society needed to be desensitized. Introducing "sexual freedom" among the heterosexuals paved the way by destroying commitment an d producing guilt because of promiscuity. Heterosexuals having lost their credibility were incapable of putting up a righteous fight against perversion. Alongside the breaking down of marriage, the Biblical term "sodomy" is being euphemised to homosexual and then to "gay"; sin is bad and the image needs to be reconstructed to a more acceptable one. The Bible says that it is iniquity and the sinful desires and behaviour needs to be repented of. This is denied in the new terminology, because these poor peop le can't help themselves.

This was followed in 1953, when Hugh Hefner launched Playboy magazine, selling sex outside of marriage to the blue-collar workers and inaugurating the pornography industry. The late 1950's saw the dormant women suffrage rise up again trying to bring th e men back to moral responsibility. This time with the cry "We do not want to be sex objects". Social engineers successfully sold them the idea that true liberation for them was to do what the men were doing. When women accepted sexual promiscuity as a so cial value, that really opened up Pandora's box. This ushered in the sexual revolution of the 1960's and the scale was tipped from a pro-family society to a cultural value that said sexual sexual freedom is just as -- or more -- important than family valu es.

Now to ensure that sexual freedom could be sustained, two things needed to be in place: contraception on demand (to prevent resulting pregnancies) and a backup system in case contraception did not work or was not used -- abortion. (Margaret Sanger, not orious birth-control advocate since 1912, had a plan for women that is now being realized. Interestingly, 1953 is also the year that Ms. Sanger became the first president of International Planned Parenthood Federation.) Society, now having rejected God's standard and embracing sexual freedom, has economic engines to keep this shift moving and 1980 saw the opening of the door to the homosexual culture. On its heels followed the AIDS epidemic. Other social indicators of moral decay entered the foray of our culture: no-fault divorce, broken homes, men and women increasingly promiscuous, children raised without the security of a stable home or father present, women losing support of a husband, increased poverty, and increased crime.

Is it any wonder that the 1990's saw the offspring of parents of the sexual revolution epoch engaging in sexual activity at a younger and younger age? Because these children are just unrestrained animals, the solution is to provide condoms and counsell ing services for abortion in the schools. Not only do we see sex between the sexes, but perversions because many of the younger generation have been raised without the benefit of proper, wholesome relationships of husband/wife, father/son, father/daughter , mother/son, and mother/daughter.

Why are we where we are?

What have we done as conservatives to stop this? We have not been silent. We have fought. But why did we not win? We fought defensively. We, however, have acted to conserve and not make a positive change. When marriage was attacked, we defended marriag e and initially won. We went home and the "gays" went to their war rooms to rethink their strategy. When they won one battle, the conservatives moved "the line in the sand". This pattern continued and the "liberalists" eventually won and the conservatives consistently lost more moral ground.

Our strategy must be changed to being pro-active. The reason that two percent of society has been able to gain so much control is because they have actively pursued and set their goal for gate-keeping positions. Each day we must ask ourselves: "What ca n I do today to advance the kingdom of God where I live?" When you think like that you are no longer acting as a dissenter in someone else's system. You are properly seeing yourself as a competitor against the God-haters for control over a system that is run by its citizens.

Government Under God
A speech written by a 13 year-old student for a project on Canada

The Belgic Confession Article 36 outlines the role of government, “We believe that our gracious God, because of the depravity of mankind, has appointed kings, princes, and magistrates; willing that the world should be governed by certain laws and polic ies; to the end that the dissoluteness of men might be restrained, and all things carried on among them with good order and decency. For this purpose He has invested the magistry with the sword for the punishment of evil-doers and for the protection of th em that do well.”

This seems to describe exactly what our government isn't. Romans 13:4 says, “For he [the government] is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain for he is God's minister, an avenger to execut e wrath on him who practices evil.”

1 Peter 2:13,14 says, “Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as those who are sent by Him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.”

Mr. Scott Brockie — a Christian — refused to print promotional papers for the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives. For this he was taken to court by the Ontario Human Rights Commission, on the grounds that the rights of these people are being taken away. Last I read, this case was to be decided by the Supreme Court of Canada.

No longer does the government protect the right.

The Federal Cabinet is considering granting Robert Latimer a “royal prerogative of mercy.” By doing this, they could lessen or cancel the remainder of his prison sentence.

No longer does the government punish the wrong.

The Belgic Confession also states, “Their office [the government’s] is not only to have regard unto and watch for the welfare of the civil state, but also to protect the sacred ministry, that the kingdom of Christ may thus be promoted. They must theref ore countenance the preaching of the Word of the Gospel everywhere, that God be honoured and worshipped by everyone, as He commands in His Word”.

When the September 11 memorial service was held on Parliament Hill, no mention of God was made. Instead, the Prime Minister told us, “At a time like this, the only saving grace is our common humanity and decency.”

All Chaplains in the Canadian Army have been told to no longer mention the name of Jesus in their services or anywhere else. This way, they think, all religions can be included when we pray to “God.”

Instead of furthering the kingdom, the government is working to silence the Gospel’s message.

A third problem with our Liberal government is something called expropriationism. This is the Robin Hood error; we may take from the rich to give to the poor. Many people hate expropriationism only because it is given to the wrong causes, not because t hey see the practice as wrong.

Last year the Alberta Government gave 5 million dollars of taxpayers’ money to fund abortion. Most Christians would agree this is wrong. Last year the Federal Government also gave 50 million dollars of taxpayers’ money to the Red Cross.

Considerably fewer Christians would have trouble with this. After all, the Red Cross helps many people.

But consider these scenarios, put together by J. Budziszewski.
1 - On a dark street, a man draws a knife and demands my money for drugs.
2 - Instead of demanding money for drugs, he demands it for the church.
3 - Instead of being alone, he is with a bishop of the church who acts as bagman.
4 - Instead of drawing a knife, he produces a policeman who says I must do as he says. Br>5 - Instead of meeting me on the street, he mails me his demand as an official agent of the government.

Obviously this is wrong. The government is only supposed to take our money for the purpose of defending the right and punishing the wrong. If we want to give to charities, that is our choice. Our government is not supposed to be a gracious benefactor o n our behalf.

Our government is far from where it should be. I encourage you to find out more about how our government works and get involved.

In the words of Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Christian Politics Represents True Progress
by Arjen Karssenberg

in Nederlands Dagblad, the Dutch Christian Daily
(translated and adapted)

“For mankind there is only one good and right way: the way of faith and obedience to God’s revelation and authority. Having departed from it, one must return to it. Therefore, this spirit of conserving the foundations that safeguard society is the true spirit of progression. We do not want any other conservatism.” (Groen van Prinsterer)

Both Christians and conservatives are concerned about the foundations of our society. Can we therefore constructively work together in politics on that basis? This is not a new question, but it is a timely one. In 1860 Guillaume Groen van Prinsterer pa id attention to the question: “Is Anti-Revolutionary the same as Conservative?” This was what Christians in his time were discussing. The core of his answer is found in the above quotation.

The Gospel as a Weapon

This answer shows that Groen ties the conserving of the foundations of society to faith in and obedience to God. There is a connection between faith and living in society.

The other aspect of this is the connection between unbelief and revolution: unbelief (and consequent disobedience to God) threatens all authority and societal living. The only weapon against unbelief and revolution is faith in the Gospel. Christian pol itics is characterized by the wielding of this weapon. Thus, the essence of Christian politics is not merely the acknowledgement of God's authority, but the Christian faith. Belief in God, the recognition of His presence, is not just a conservative “good deed” or “virtue.”

God is not to be described as “the everywhere present Unity of Being we call God”; nor is He to be seen as a nameless authority we are to formally and publicly acknowledge. God is the One Who Himself laid the foundations of the earth — and also those o f society; He is the One Who presents Himself as the Triune God Who came to us in Jesus Christ. Only in this way can we learn to know Him. To take away anything from this Gospel is to threaten the foundations of society.

That’s why “Conservative” politics is characterized by internal contradictions. Conservative politicians want to preserve society from backsliding — but they do not dare to use the only weapon against backsliding! Consequently, they replace the Gospel, which is the sword of the Spirit (Heb. 4:12) with an arsenal of conservative “values”.

Characteristic of conservatism is that it is “frightened by the consequences of the basis it has accepted, repudiates those consequences, but nevertheless remains true to its errors,” according to Groen. The conservative ethic (of virtues) does slow down the progress of social decay and revolution; but at the same time it is part of it, because it is a man-centred ethic. Therefore, Conservatives can be described as toned-down revolutionaries.

In opposition to this, Groen’s answer shows how truly progressive Christian politics is. A return to the Word of God is true progress. Christian politics is realistic because Christ’s Lordship is held to be central. But it is also progressive, because it orients itself towards the future, and the return of Christ.

In that day, it will become clear that the message many people reject today is actually the cause of the Son of God. This true progress is foreign to the conservative ethic (of virtues).

Is the Message Coming Across?

A Dutch conservative writer, Kinneging, shows himself concerned about the fact that policy points of Christian politicians meet with misunderstanding, and he thinks he can point out the cause (ND, Oct 28, ’02): “The words and worldview used by Christia ns in the House makes it impossible for their message to come across.” According to Kinneging, pointing to God’s commandments makes little sense.

However, if one takes note of the contributions made by Christian politicians to the debate over homosexual marriages, one cannot escape the impression that they have done their utmost to reach and really address the government and the representatives of the people. There was no “cold” appeal to the Ten Commandments, or anything like that.

It is important to be aware of formulation and clarification of policy points. But we also have to remember that many people have become more and more estranged from the Bible. Knowing this, we must not contribute to further secularization by camouflag ing the Biblical message in non-Christian arguments. With humility and tact, we must try to offer our neighbour the medicine by which we ourselves have been healed — the medicine of the Gospel.

Weak and Strong

Groen van Prinsterer lived in a time in which liberalism was strong and Christian politics was weak. In this situation many of his Christian friends saw the Conservatives as allies. The Conservative stream was strong — and the positions taken by Conser vative politicians seemed for the greater part to coincide with what Christians were advocating.

Groen saw the danger: Through the Conservatives, a bridge was threatening to form between belief and unbelief, between revolutionary concepts and Christian positions. He uttered the well-known saying “Our strength lies in isolation” espec ially with a view to the Conservatives.

That power of simply holding to and being obedient to the Word of God became apparent at the beginning of the previous century.

Liberalism as well as Conservatism are strong in our time also. The rearguard of the Christian-Democratic Alliance — and also the majority of Muslims in the Netherlands — can be counted with the Conservative stream. In independence from that stream lie s the strength of Christian politics, which then by rights can be called
“universal and anti-revolutionary.”

From the Lethbridge President

Dear CHP Friends!

Hello, how are you all? I hope you all had a good summer. As I am writing this, we have just had a first taste of winter. That was almost a welcome relief after the summer heat. But not so in the political realm. There we see how the government is goin g away from our Christian heritage as fast as possible. It is now a good five years ago that the Swiss-Air disaster happened. Our Prime Minister then said we had no need for public prayer. But what is happening in Canada today? Do you want me to mention Canada’s problems? There is BSE, we had SARS, forest fires, the softwood lumber dispute. How about West-Nile, and is abortion not a problem? Dear friends, if we keep going this way — if we do not return to our Christian heritage, we are headed for disaste r.

When we open the Bible and look up Leviticus 20:22, we read: Ye shall therefore keep all My statutes, all My judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein SPEW YOU NOT OUT. Is there then no more hope for Canada? I b elieve there is, but ONLY if we confess our sins and return to our Biblical principles. For we read also in the Bible in Solomon’s prayer: If Thy people sin against Thee, but bethink themselves and repent, and make supplication to Thee, then hear thei r prayer and their supplication in heaven Thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause. And the Lord’s answer was: If thou wilt walk before Me, as David thy father walked, and keep My commandments, I will establish thy kingdom. But if ye at all tur n from following Me, I will cut off Israel out of the land, which I have given them. Dear friends, I hope you all pray for our country and for the government.

Within five months, the Prime Minister intends to step down. By what we hear, we cannot expect better morals from Paul Martin. And that brings us to the question when the next election is to be held. ARE WE READY??? Do we have a candidate? In the Lethb ridge Riding we do not have one yet, and that is our biggest weakness. We lack political savvy, we fear to speak out and have a lack of focus sometimes. But we also have strengths We are dedicated, committed, and have the best moral platform there is and ever can be, also a membership that is generous and also growing. Once a month we advertise in the Sunny South, a rural newspaper. As board we meet about ten times a year. At the last board meeting, we were privileged to have the Alberta president give us guidance us in doing the Strategic Planning Session.

Dear friends, I hope you all do your job and let us pray that God will bless our efforts, I wish you all the best and God’s blessing!
- Barend Van Maanen

Yellowhead Riding Report

We have been very busy with updating the memberships in the riding. We have tried to visit with the members, especially also with lapsed members. A number of the ones whose memberships had expired have renewed, and the talks we had were very encouragin g. A number of donations were received, as well as memberships paid up.

We are trying to organize ourselves better by adapting the red book that is on CD to the local situation. All information re contact addresses, meetings, frequency and time of reports, agenda for membership meeting established at board meeting prior, j ob descriptions, term expiration dates for individual board members. This will be done before the next meeting, but will be an ongoing thing. All board members to receive a hard copy which will be kept up-to-date.

Provincial Newsletter: we are going to try to approach businesses about advertising in our newsletter with a printout of their business card. Fee to be 50 dollars per shot.

We are in the process of drafting a letter to the pastors of the churches in our riding. They need to be made aware that there are only two political parties in Canada, the Christian Heritage Party of Canada, and the other party with 13 different names . Also that every Christian has a mandate given by God, and part of that is how we vote. Vote splitting to keep the liberals out is taking responsibility away from God, in Whose hand we are to entrust the results of any election.

On behalf of the Board of the Yellowhead Riding,
Sip Hofstede

Alberta President's Report

The summer has passed and the year 2003 is quickly coming to an end. When we reflect on this past year, God seems to be giving warning after warning (SARS, mad cow disease, power outages, fires, drought, floods, and grasshoppers) and yet our nation persis ts in going full steam ahead into moral decline. Our Liberal government and courts have lost their moorings and are implementing legislation that declares perversion the morality of the day, even though there has been a great outcry from the citizens. We also see the success of the public education system that has removed God from the classroom inculcating tolerance and political correctness, and there is less and less discernment of right and wrong.

Even though the summer months are generally relaxing times, it certainly was not so this time. The Parliament recessed early, but sent the question of “same-sex” marriage to the Supreme Court to work out the logistics, assuming that this is the directi on we need to go because society is evolving – therefore laws affecting relationships also need to be reflected in our legislation! Sending the question to the courts is like putting the fox in charge of the hen house – it was the activist judges that read “sexual orientation” into the Charter in the first place. (“Sexual orientation” was deliberately not included when the Charter was written because it was, and still is, so clearly undefined!) This issue gave rise to writing letters and e-mails to various elected representatives protesting the legalization of perversion, and also encouraging others to do likewise. Devolution of society would more aptly describe our post-modern culture.

Alongside Bill C-250, the hate crimes legislation was still progressing, and has since passed third reading in the House of Commons and now moved on to the Senate. I sent all 100 Senators a letter regarding this odious bill. Let us hope and pray that t hey will debate this Bill until the Parliament will prorogue; then the Bill will die on the order paper. My MP tells me this will very likely be around November 7, about a week prior to the Liberal Leadership Convention. Other Bills that did not receive t he media coverage but are also of importance are: § Bill C 13 - An Act Respecting Assisted Human Reproduction and Related Research: this bill would legitimize the creation of embryos for reproductive research. § Bill C 23 - National Sex Offender Registry: the Liberal government proposed the formation of a registry, one in which sex offenders will have to re-offend and be again before being added to the registry, and not retroactive; thereby subjecting more victims to this heinous crime. § Bill C 8 - An Act to Amend the Contraventions Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (decriminalisation of marijuana): small amounts of marijuana may be subjected to police officer’s discretion to ticketing or a criminal charge, and youth may have disco unted fines. And what of the growers and dealers? As you can see, there is a crucial need for Christians to watch and pray that God will yet stay His Hand for the sake of our children and grandchildren and possibly bring revival not only in our governmen t leaders, but His Church, as well.

On October 16 and 17, CHP met in Abbottsford, BC for the national board meeting. We were encouraged by the work done by the Election Readiness Team (ERT) and continued working on election strategy. This time there was also an introductory presentation made by the Education Committee (EC). The EC has done a tremendous amount of work in producing educational material for the general public and to help train candidates. On Friday evening, we attended the fundraising banquet for BC CHP. Mr. Darrell Peregry m, Executive Director for advancement at Trinity Western University, was the guest speaker. His message was bringing the message of Jesus to bear in all of our lives individually and also on society as a whole; doing comes from being and the being comes f rom the One you know. Our responsibility is obedience and God will take care of the results.

On Saturday, we took part with approximately 40 delegates from greater BC in their provincial conference. Mr. Ron Gray launched the election platform, which will probably be called for the Spring of 2004. Also a number of policies were debated in prepa ration for our next CHP National Convention. It was good to be part of this activity.

Charles Dickens, in his Tale of Two Cities, wrote, “it was the best of times – it was the worst of times”; could this be a description of Canada today? Economically this nation is still prosperous; but morally we are rapidly heading toward decad ence. As there is a federal election pending next year, there is a great need for CHP candidates to enter the political fray.

The CHP is the only pro-life, pro-family Canadian political party having based its policies on unalterable Biblical principles that are right for all mankind. In this time of moral degradation do we dare not to bring the message of Jesus to bear in the nation’s civil government? Will you or someone you know step up to the plate and throw in your name to give the voters an opportunity to vote for a responsible alternative? Please contact me. There are wonderful materials available to help bring the CHP message along with candidate’s training.

From the Secretary's Desk

We hope you all had a good summer. Our God still cares for us. We have seen another seedtime and harvest, testimony of God's continued care for us, in spite of us being so undeserving. When we take a look at the state of our nation, we see one of rapid decline. Our civil government is trampling on the principles on which the nation was founded that recognized the sovereignty of our Creator.

Provincially, we are seeing a slow increase in the CHP membership.

With the exception of the Yellowhead riding, we have no other confirmed candidates. We continue to seek out others who would be willing to give other ridings the opportunity to vote the only pro-life, pro-family national political party. Please conside r prayerfully that God will raise up willing CHP members to let their name stand.

Regular provincial board meetings were held in Airdrie in March, June, and September. The next one is slated for November 22. These meetings encourage us to keep working for the CHP in our ridings, province, and nation. As a provincial board, we have m ade a commitment to produce a regular provincial newsletter, of which this is the second issue. May it be an encouragement to our members and help with the growth of the party so that in God's good time, God will bless the efforts made to re-establish God's sovereignty in this beautiful country.

Thank you for the prayer and financial support you have continue to give us. May this quote be applicable to each of you: "A true measure of your worth includes all the benefits others have gained from your success."

Alberta Treasurer's Report

Dear Members,

The Provincial Board at the moment has a bank balance of just under $400.00. The only expenses that we have incurred lately is for hall rental when the Provincial Board meets every three months in Airdrie. However, we would like to do more, such as pu rchase a professional-looking table display that we could take around the province to promote the party at various meetings, get some new riding associations started, and get ready for the next federal election, which will be called next year.

On the National level, the National Board has an operating budget of $180,000 for the year, which is used for administration and travel expenses incurred by the leader, Mr. Ron Gray. The National Board also would like another $140,000 to get ready for the next election. As can be seen, the Party needs funds to do its work to promote a Christian political alternative to the voters of this country, especially in light of the recent disturbing decisions that have come out of Ottawa. Would you consider ma king a donation? If you would like to, you may send your donation to your local Riding Association’s Treasurer, who will forward it to the National Office. Unfortunately the Christian Heritage Party lost its Registered Political Party status, and therefore its ability to issue tax deductible receipts to donors. This was due to our failure to run at least 50 candidates in the last federal election. We hope to regain our Registered Political Party. We aim to run at least 75 candidates in the next federal election.
Jacob Bosch,
Provincial Treasurer
