July 11, 2005 |
Replacement body panel ordered and the stripping of lights, glass and interior parts, prior to soda blasting, has commenced. |

December 9, 2006 |
After almost a year and a half, most of the striping has been completed. Had a body guy lined up but he closed up shop. About to set the bus up on a dolly VW Tool # 603/3. Once that is complete, transaxle and front beams will come off. Blasting and body work to commence. | ||

Pretty much completed stripped
apart and found some more rusted areas. (go figure)
Front beam has been dropped out and front spindles sent off to Nate @ Wagenswest to get "flipped". Decided on a narrowed / adjustable front beam so waiting to pick that up from Concept 1. New Porsche front disc brakes completee with Porsche master cylinder will provide stopping power. Beautiful adapter plates from VDub engineering holding the front calipers. Transmission and reduction gear boxes are gone. In their place will be an IRS conversion kit from Wagenswest with IRS trailing arms from a 71 Bug.
