Acrostic Poems

On May 25 our congregation looked at Psalm 145 and discussed how it was an alphabet acrostic, each line of the psalm follows a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. I challenged the congregation to produce acrostic poems that bring voice to our collective thankfulness for the way God has been faithful to us through the generations. The original challenge was to produce alphabet acrostic poems, but I’m widening the scope to include any acrostic poem (minimum of a 5 letter word). Maybe an acrostic using "Port Alberni," or the "Christian Reformed Church" or Biblical words like "grace," "everlasting peace," or "Mahershalalhashbaz" (see Isaiah 8:1-3)" etc. might be a possibility. If we collect a minimum of 5 poems from each of the five age categories (12 and under, 13-20, 21-40, 41-60, 60+), then I will indeed shave my goatee. You don’t have to submit your name, but you must submit which age category you belong to. I will keep you updated as to how many poems have been collected.
