The Poetry of Daniel Harrison

Semaphore

In random synaptic crossfire,
A brittle, faltering vagrant
Converses with Zeus.

Parkinsonian semaphores
Punctuate his evening benediction.
Spastic gestures shot at the setting sun.

Dusky beachfront strollers,
Wary of cryptic tongues,
Afford a wide berth.

But transient park bench inmates
Are kindred by design,
Ensnared only by cruel puppetry.

Identical chemical sacks are they.
Our computational superiority,
At best, a fleeting differential.

At worst, entropy overtakes reason.
Using the last drops of lucidity,
We ponder the down count of cells.
