The Poetry of Daniel Harrison

Tell Her She’s Okay

There’s a world of people
That never get close to me
But I’m doing fine
Got the little lady next to me

There’s a big bad city (Big bad city!)
Full of boys just like me
And I fall in line
Pretty girl's got the best of me

She’s nothing more than
Flicker on a movie screen
(It’s a special feature)
Sunday matinee

She shines it on like paper
In a magazine
(I’d like to reach her)
Tell her she’s okay

There’s a thousand reasons
For keeping your habit clean
So I stay inside
Then you never know where I’ve been

In the shutdown season (Don’t shut me down!)
When the party’s on LCD
Then I come alive
I got the lady right in front of me

She goes online every day
She got bandwidth burning down
She pulls that cherry sucker out
Then jerks those boys around

She likes to steal the hours away
Then make her crazy sound
Before she turns the backlight off
And brings my system down
