The Poetry of Daniel Harrison

Hide Away The Day

Now we are dealing with national feelings
And its war again
To settle scores again
With pride!
So its another enemy rotten
To the core again
Just like before my friend
They lied!

When they sing that anthem tears flood every eye
And when the ghetto fighters die
Surviving brothers
Undercover slip away…
And hide away the day

Passion is seething we are willing to bleed
Send in the young again
Let it be done again
In the night!
The power we heed grows in the militant seed
So let the logic bend
Into the storm again
Its all right!

On the smoky dunes with trigger fingers tight
A hothead holy righteous fight
Where even mothers
Join the others in the fray…
Then hide away the day

Now we are reeling on the battlefield screaming
Make the bastards pay
Now its the glory days
They’re in sight!
Bayonets gleam in the desert sun beaming
On the smart machines
To make it clinic clean
They’re in tight!

Another evening rolls along the mountain sky
A shadowed messenger slips by
And all his brothers
Under cover came to pray…
To hide away the day
