The Poetry of Daniel Harrison

For Kimberly

Speak to me my sad and drunken lady
Wounds whispering your final savage hour
That twisted frozen grin is now my history
Your crumpled soul has granted me its power

Look up to me my slender battered corpse
May I bring about your sweet redemption?
The mad dog’s den into which you have stumbled
Has become the focus of these twelve’s attention

You shrugged aside a crippling confinement
While friends and lover panicked through the night
And because your stars were locked in bad alignment
This court is now obliged to shine its light

Forgive us Kim immodest rude intrusions
We must consider every speck throughout
Shining bruises and appalling slick contusions
Supporting our judicious lack of doubt

Charge us then your Lordship, we are certain
The testimony overflows the tome
The jury wishes now to close the curtain
So Kimberly can finally make it home
