In a time where mass produced, machine made products flood our lives, Dana Smith is proud to be a part of the re-emerging handmade movement. She is also keen to increase awareness about the value of buying directly from artisans as a step towards sustainable living.
Dana has always had an interest in visual art with a practical bent and is now focusing her accumulated skills on the artfully made floorcloth. She has an instinctual understanding of color and design, using it freely and fluently. Her work embodies the essence of motion and exploration through her willingness to experiment.
Dana gains inspiration for her painted canvas creations from naturally occurring patterns witnessed from her rural costal life. Her color palettes and non-subjective designs are an experiential and contemporary take on familiar themes, making her work dynamic and ever changing.
