updated on 01/07/2008 Here you'll find some recipes that I have made for my tiels and they've loved. Feel free to change ingredients, add or subtract. Use your imagination and have fun with them. 1 cup (prepared) Power Grains hot cereal handful of dandelion finely chopped 1 hard boiled egg 1/4 cup of (all dry ingredients):
Rinse, drain & soak overnight in plenty of water. In the morning drain & place in large pot & cover with plenty of water, bring to a boil. Once boiled reduce to low and allow to simmer for a couple hours. Cook a 6 serving size (directions on package minus butter and salt) of brown rice. Add 2 cups (or more) mixed frozen veggies (the heat from the cooked beans and rice will thaw the veggies). 1/2 cup cranberries 1/2 cup soya flakes NOTE: For an extra special treat I like to cook manicotti pasta or large shell pasta and I stuff them with the above mix. The tiels love to chew threw the pasta for their mash. 1 hard boiled mashed egg with shell 1 slice, cubed Squirrelly bread (sprouted whole grain bread) 1/4 cup finely chopped broccoli 1 tbsp wheat germ oil 1/4 Recipe Ensure that you have a container large enough to mix the mash in before you begin. The quarter recipe makes a little more than a gallon of food. Begin by thoroughly rinsing and then soaking the following ingredients for at least 8 hours. 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) dry black-eyed
peas After soaking these ingredients, add or remove water to just cover the bean mixture. The trick is to not have a lot of water left when you are done cooking the bean mixture. You do want a small amount left, and you do not want to discard the water as it will contain nutrients that are vital for the proper balance of the mash. Bring the mixture to a boil on high heat, for about ten minutes. Then reduce the heat to a simmer. Continue to simmer, uncovered, until there is only a little water left. You will need to stir the mixture occasionally throughout the entire cooking process. Place the following frozen ingredients in your mixing container. .75 pound (.35 kg) frozen corn Mix the bean mixture into the frozen products. Add the following ingredients. 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) alfalfa powder Cut up and lightly steam 1 small sweet potato (approximately .75 lb. (.35 kg)) and add to the mixture. Cut up and lightly steam 1 medium white potatoes (approximately .375 lb. (.17 kg)) and add to the mixture. Chop the following ingredients into bite size pieces and add to the mixture. 1 small zucchini - approximately .25
lb. (.12 Kg) Mince the following and add to the mixture. 1/8
lb (.05 kg) of fresh parsley NOTE: for the full or 1/2 recipe you can contact me or join the yahoo group linked above. The group has the recipes, faq's and many members who use the mash. The group was created so that the mash would not be lost after Mike's unfortunate passing. NOTE: After boiling the egg for 20-30 min. I remove the shell and place on paper towel and nuke in the microwave for 1 min. and then use a blender, food processor or mortar & pestle to crush it to a fine powder. I try to use as much organic product as I possibly can. sprinkle fresh sprouts on any of these fresh dishes for some extra good nutrition.
