This family-operated enterprise from Schönberg-Neustift in the lower Kamp Valley possesses some fine terraced sites planted with the typical white varieties ot the region, namely Grüner Vetliner, Riesling, and Pinot Noir.
In fact, the 2002 Riesling Alte Reben won TOP GOLD at the Western Canada wine awards! The critics chose it as the Top White wine between $15 and $30.
In 1996, Stefan Leopold took over the winery from his father Dominikus and has since evoled into a veritable red wine specialist. Besides Zweigelt, Leopold produces Pinot Noir, which has lately been awared the “Vines d’Or” in Switzerland at the “Mondial du Pinot Noir”
At the “Japan Wine Challenge 2003” Leopold received a “Bronze Medal” with the Pinot Blanc.
Rigorous selection during the harvest, temperature-controlled fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and oak barrel aging are the root of such a success. The assortment of the 28-hectare winery additionally comprises spirits and a sparkling wine.
