1905 PEMBINA, NORTH DAKOTA

(II)-John (Jack) W. Monroe born, August 23, 1884, Rolla, North Dakota died 1954 Vancouver, British Columbia son of a Monroe  and Emma who is alive in 1939;  Doug Monroe says John W Monroe's father was (I)-John Monroe (Monrow) born Assynt, Scotland who on May 13. 1652 was sent with his brother indentured to Thomas Kemble Biistol, Bristol Co. Rhode Island. 

Married 1905 Olive McClellan born, May 9, 1884, Waterton Lake, Alberta.  Both are school teachers in small towns of North Dakota.  They met at a school convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  They married and moved to Portland, Oregon then on to Eurika, Washington where they worked at odd jobs.  They eventually settled in Vancouver before 1908 on Keefer Street east of Campbell Avenue.  Jack worked for the Morning Sun newspaper for over fifty years.

NOTES: Family thinks Elizabeth Olive McClellan born May 9, 1882, Waterton, Minnesota now part of Minneapolis, daughter James McClellan and Catherine Sexton.

       Family tradition is that they are descendent from President Monroe however this is unlikely as he had no sons.
