"Lord teach us to pray."

Luke 11:1

Why do we Pray?

* God wants us to pray.

* God's power is made manifest through prayer.

* We pray to have fellowship with God.

* We pray so that we might know God's will.

When do we Pray?

At all times.

"in the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice."

Psalm 5:3

"(Jesus) went out to pray,

and spent the night praying to God."

Luke 6:12

"Pray continually."

1 Thessalonians 5:17

How do we Pray?

A - Adoration

God desires our worship and praise.

"Worship the Lord in the splendor

of his holiness."

Psalm 29:2

C - Confession

When we confess our sin and receive forgiveness

then fellowship with God is restored.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just

and will forgive us our sins and purify us

from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9

T - Thanksgiving

Let us come before God with thanksgiving.

"Do not be anxious about anything,

but in everything, by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your request to God." Philippians 4:6

S - Supplication

Supplication includes petition for our own needs and intercession for others.

* Pray for yourself.

In the morning I lay my requests before

You and wait in expectation."

Psalm 5:3

* Pray for others.

"Always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18

Prayer Ministry Mission Statement

The mission of Emmanuel's Prayer Ministry is to breathe abundant life into the worshipping body and surrounding community of Emmanuel and to be the solid foundation upon which our ministry is built, as inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour."

Luke 4:18-19
