Video recording is done using the right hand recorder (Above the switcher), and is started at the begining of the worship service. (REWIND this also...just in case) (The DAT Tapes are started at the same time). Make sure the levels are set on this machine. (Using the tiny knobs on the front). The monitor for this recorder is below it to the right. This shows you what is being recorded on this machine. NOTE:. if you push rec and play...thinking you are recording...and you get something else on the monitor...take out the tape and make sure that the record protect is OFF. You sre really playing and NOT recording.....WATCH FOR THIS!
Panasonic AG-1980

There is a VHS machine, located in the middle above the switcher.
The monitor for this is just to the right of it. (Just to the left of the DVC monitor).
The Patch bay above the Soundboard has a VHS IN and Out bay, and is hooked into the appropriate connections in the back of the VHS machine, this is how we get the sound into and out of this machine.
Note: if we use the video patch bay it disables the switcher, so if you end up with a green colored person and movement and you can't do anything...guess what.....Unplug the patch cord!
Note that we do not usually record video on this machine at the same time as the DVC, as there is a 1/2 sec delay due to the cable length.
Having said that,, occasionally you get a request for a VHS tape.
In order to do this, you need to set it to take the signal from Camera 2, because if you go any other way, you get a delay in the sound. You need to patch the S video cable from the camera 2 camera controller (On top of the VHS Machine) into the VHS S video Input.
Now you need sound, so you have to find the audio cables from the mixer board and patch them into the audio input of the VHS. (Make sure that the XLR audio cables are plugged into the DVC recorder or you won't get any audio to either machine.)
Done for special requests from the band etc.
Patch Bay above the VHS Machine:
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4=VHS OUT | 5 | 6 | 7= Satellite OUT |
| 1=Projector IN | 2=DVC IN | 3=VHS IN | 4=Monitor IN | 5 | 6 | 7 |
