Special Effects Generator (Yamaha SPX90)

http://www.yamaha.com/ycaservice/pdf/436.pdf

Located above the patch panel. It is hooked into the system and is controlled by the red dial on the top right of the board that is marked (SPX90). (Into Aux. Sends # 4.). This is used for reverb and other effects. (The Return inputs are into #2 channel on the return section). The idea is that it “SENDS” out a signal to the reverb, processes it then “RETURNS” it on a left and right channel to the board.

Compressor/Limiter DBX 1066

ftp://ftp.dbxpro.com/pub/Manuals/English/1066_manual.pdf

There is a “COMPRESSOR/Limiter” (To run off # 3 Aux send, which is marked) it fills the space below this, which will block extreme pops or noises from overriding the VU system. This is a 2 channel machine, and you plug the channel into the “INSERT” of the board, that you want compressed. (Usually the lead singer).

You need to be sre that the "BYPASS" Switch is OFF on both channels otherwise you will get UNEVEN signals on your master VU. Ask me how I found this out!!!!

Set the "Stereo couple" on so that Channel one overides both channels (Except for the bypass).

Set up The Threshold, and gain controls, ratio, etc so that they are the same on both channels. (Just in case).

ULTRALINK

There is a group of dials just below the SPX 90, that is called an “ULTRALINK” and is used to control the Hearing Impaired, CCTV-Nursery; Gym left and Right; and the Fellowship Left and Right. Sometimes the editor guys turn off the CCTV Nursery when they are editing, and forget to turn it back on, so you need to check that it is on for the sermon. All the sound is routed through this FIRST then to the DVC Pro etc. SO if you are not gettting sound levels at the DVC pro check to make sure this is switched ON and the levels are up.
