The Clearcom

There is a new Clearcom controller above the video editor. It is two channels and we operate on Channel B. The long cord is plugged into this and used by the TD. It eliminates the need to carry around the little box. (Stonewood Audio CMS2 Monitor Station.)

For the others there is a headset that you put on, and is plugged into the little box on the counter, that is called a “Clearcom”. Bad hair days are common.

You turn it on by clicking the little button twice.
A little green light comes on. Hit it once, for off. This headphone enables you to communicate with upstairs, lighting, and PowerPoint people, As well as the “TD”. Once in a while you get a red light on this box, this is the call signal so if you are not paying attention or don't have the headset on....now is the time to put it on. Sometimes you have to call upstairs (Dial 242) and get them to physically unplug the box, and plug it back in again to reset it. The volume is set using the dial on the front.

By the way.... if you are on camera 3......be QUIET!!!! People don't like to hear you yapping! A good way to acknowledge the TD is to “nod” the camera (providing you are not LIVE)...or just say “uh huh”, or “K!

Sometimes the TD likes to hear the Talkback Mike that the band leader is using. To accomplish this, a cable is ran from the front of the Main Clearcom to the "Insert" of the channel you decide to use ( I usually use the last one on the Extended board). If you put it into the INSERT rather than the Direct OUT on the board, you don't have to worry about the Fader being up or down, or even having the channel unmuted. This will not go through to the TAPE.
