Satellite Receiver

This is new. It rests above the security monitor.

You can patch this into everything using the Video patch board above the VHS player.

The remote is used to turn it on & change channels. It is stored in the drawer with the rest of the remotes, under the DAT.

When you turn it on, the security monitor becomes its monitor automatically.

The Satellite used for the special broadcast is Channel 9621 (BTV). (The Dish Network). You can use the “guide “ on the remote and scroll to the above channel if someone has had it on another.( East coast is channel 9641).

We are not supposed to watch Pay Per View on this unit or our chip could be CANCELLED....and we wouldn't want that to happen in the middle of something important.

To watch it on the program monitor, without it going to the screen patch Sat out “7” to Monitor in “4”. Then switch the Program monitor to “B”. But when the actual program is happening patch Sat out (7) to Projector in (1) Then to monitor the action, you can focus one of the cameras onto the screen.

Patch Bay above the VHS Machine:

Top Row
1 2 3 4=VHS OUT 5 6 7= Satellite OUT
Bottom Row
1=Projector IN 2=DVC IN 3=VHS IN 4=Monitor IN 5 6 7

To get Audio you use the other patch bay above the soundboard. Patch “Sat out” to PB 5 & 6. Then use Mix B as you would a video, to send the signal upstairs.

There will be a PowerPoint slide made up to say “Technical difficulties Please Stand by”.....in case something goes wrong....you can pull out the patch cables to the Satellite have the switcher on PP. (You need to pull out the cables because they bypass the switcher, and to get the switcher to work, they need to be out.)

You need to be there at least 1 hour before the event starts to get set up and checked out.

DO NOT unplug the Satellite Receiver, because it will totally obliterate the settings and you will have to make a phone call to the Dish Network to get them back again. This could also happen in the event of a power failure.

Note: The Dish is on the back of the building facing the South-East 61.5 West.

There is a Satellite Technician that knows all about this system...his name is Tony Fernandes: Cell Phone 819-2094.

If we need to record form the Satellite Receiver we can use the s-video out from the Sat. to S-video in on the VHS recorder.

Audio is patched in on the patch bay using Mix out to VHS In.

VHS Video input is set to A1.

Tech stuff: If cable length is < 200 feet you can use F type cable. If it is 500 feet or more use Belden 8281 cable.

Note: If there is a problem you can call 1-800-333-6506

But if you need technical assistance with the program you call 1-530-888-7676.

We had a problem with the audio and video being out of sync. I put in a call to these guys and they told me it was their feed problem. It was eventually sorted out.

Dish Network is 1-800-454-0843 for programming questions.

Note: the smart card Number on the sheet and the Receiver #, in case they ask you.

For the test day use the remote ...press menu not guide (611)

Signal strength has to be 70 or better.

Message that says locked Echostar 61.5 West.

If you do not see this or signal strength is not above 70 your dish is not pointed correctly. (West coast sites are 148 West).

There is a parental lockout code to access the signal. Get that from Gary.

John Naud is the administrative Director- Extension Ministries and is in charge of the whole production. 277-7278 Ext. 357. .

This is not a typical entertainment satellite.

Note: we get an onscreen countdown starting at 60 minutes. There is a 1/2 hour break in the middle.

Read the information packet that comes with the contract. It will tell you the test password.
