Tape Duplicator: TASCAM- T-3000
http://www.tascam.com/pdf/T-3000_manual.pdf

Turn on the power to this using the Orange Power switch on the upper-right on the Furman light/power bar. The upper right top deck slot is the master (Selected ...yellow light is on) a switch at the back can make any tape deck the master. This is not usually done, but occasionally is, so you need to check that the little lights on the rest of the decks are out, otherwise someone has changed it, so, you will find out if you put tapes in, and they do not turn!!!! You have to set the others to SLAVE in the back, then, turn OFF the Main orange power switch, to re-set the system. (This happened to me, so, I know it can happen).
There is a panel above the decks called a Furman PL-8 (http://www.furmansound.com/Manuals/PLinstructionsht.pdf)...this.is a light, which pulls out and you can control the light with the dimmer switch on the left. It is also a Power- Source for all the rest of the decks.
Number the tapes on the back, (Bulk of tape goes to the left) with a grease pen as per the number on the deck....#1deck is on the left of the master, so NOTE the numbers carefully. This is done so that if there is a problem with the deck, it can more easily be traced.
Put in the proper tapes (Dark colored, leader tape) 60 or 90 depending on which size turns out to be the on we use to duplicate from. The new tapes are located on top of the metal cupboard behind the duplicator.
Place the one we are duplicating from in the upper Right slot.
Hit stop; then rewind to tighten up the tapes. (Note: It seems that sometimes you get a new tape and it needs to be fully rewound, so watch out for this). Touch all the tapes firmly to make sure they are properly seated in the machine. NOW hit copy on the top deck. This will start ALL decks copying, be sure to check that they are all turning. It will copy all of them, both sides at a time. If a little red light comes on at the end that says short tape, this means one of the tapes in the machine, (1 to 3), is shorter than the master by a few seconds. But usually there is lots of room left on the tape, as the message will be around 45 min. Occasionally a tape will stick, and will not turn, these tapes are to be taken out and inspected by Jayson.
When it is done it will automatically rewind the master. Hit STOP when it is done, then hit rewind to rewind all the tapes. Now is the time to put on the labels. If they are put on while recording, it could distort the recording. Make sure they are on straight with no wrinkles, as these are UNACCEPTABLE if you feel more comfortable taking them out to label then do so.
If the taping is 60 or 90 min, we have to write a note on the white board, with the time and date of the message tape. (This is to alert the Master Tape maker what to expect, and also alerts the following service team).
Don't put on labels for another run until they are needed, (And recorded) sometimes they don't need them, and they have to recycle the tapes, cause it is too hard to get the labels off. (You try to be efficient and you get burned). You can throw these in the recycle bin, (on top of the tin cupboard) to be bulk erased later. Or if it is the same weekend, they can be recorded over for the following service. (The labels don't identify AM or PM service).
Tape labels are located under the CD duplicator on the left side of the camera controller, the old extra ones are in order of date, new ones are in a separate box.
