It portrays a human holding a frog, with their tongues connected to represent that they’re connected spiritually. The frog is symbolic of wealth, and is also painted on the back of the carving, as well as on the leather band in profile. Frontlets are traditionally worn by chiefs during ceremonies like potlatches and feasts, and it is a symbol of their high status.
