Thomas and Mary `Babe' Donnelly

Thomas Donnelly was born September 21, 1899, the
fifth child of Roger and Margaret Donnelly. Tom came
up to Canada with the rest of the family in 1906 from Holton, Kansas, stopping
in Edmonton for a year before settling in the Clyde area. Tom grew up, went to
school and worked before going prospecting and trapping in the Yukon and Alaska
for five years, returning and marrying Mary `Babe' Emma Gaughen on September
29, 1930.
Babe was the daughter of James and Rebecca Gaughen,
who were also pioneers of the area, arriving in 1913 from Bonesteel, South
Dakota. Babe was born June 22, 1909.

Tom and Babe resided in the Clyde area where Ted was
born June 12, 1931 on his grandparents' farm. Tom and Babe moved to Edmonton in
the spring of 1933 where Evelyn was born January 1, 1934 and Harvey was born
February 15, 1936.
Tom retired in 1964 from the C.P.R. where he had
worked for 21 years. Tom died on August 10, 1975. Babe died November 9, 1993.
She had resided in Pleasantview senior's high‑rise and lodge in Edmonton
for the previous four years.
