MESSAGE: February 1, 2006 The recent news releases have described
the East Wheatland Study, its committee members and its purpose. In
essence, the Minister of Education has appointed a consultant to decide
how best to streamline education in the communities in our area of the
school division. The consultant has a committee of interested stakeholders,
and they will study the situation and make a recommendation to the Board
of Trustees. Their goal is to do what is best for students and learning.
The good news, of course, is that the government will be injecting capital
into our region. Stay tuned for further developments. Pennies for Patients - During the month
of February, there will be collection boxes in each classroom where
spare change can be deposited. The money raised will be contributed
to help fight childhood leukemia. Chocolate Grams go on sale February
1st and are distributed February 14th. Grade nine students sell these
for 25¢ each, and will include a chocolate heart with each delivery. New Computers are here A note
went home last week about recycling some of our non-internet Macintosh
computers, the beige machines which are about ten years old. Please
send a note if you would like to give one of these a good home (at no
charge). The new network, with access to the fiber-optic Supernet should
be up and running very soon. Kindergarten Registration packages
are available at office. Registration is from February 27th to March
3rd. Dental Health Tips Dont
