| Charity was born about 1822 in Brock Township, Ontario,
Ontario, Canada where she lived until she was approximately
twenty-eight years old. Shortly after the Shewfelt family settled
in Kincardine Twp., Bruce, Ontario, Canada, Charity married Thomas
Brocklebank who had settled in Kincardine with his brother, William, in
1849 having been born in England about 1824. Charity and Thomas
were married by Rev. Wm. Fraser, a Baptist minister on the 18 Nov. 1850
in the presence of William and Joseph Shoefelt of Kincardine. Three boys and two girls were born to the Brocklebanks between 1853 and 1864: George, William, Peter, Mary and Emily. Charity died about 1873. After Charity's death Thomas remarried. His second wife, Margaret "Ruth" Biggar, had been widowed twice previously so that on the 1881 census the Brocklebank family consisted children of Thomas and Charity, children of Ruth's second marriage and three children born to Thomas and Ruth.
