"CHERYL CHAPMAN (published on April 14, 2001)
CHERYL RAYE CHAPMAN (nee CLAYTON) It is with deepest sorrow that we announce Cheryls passing on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital. We will be forever grateful that we were able to spend her last few hours with her and say our good-byes in our own way. Cheryl was born January 1, 1948 in Shoal Lake, Manitoba and grew up in Portage La Prairie. She lost both her parents, Ray and Angela
in 1972. She is also predeceased by her brothers David (1955) and Richard (1949). She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 30 years, Bob; daughters, Carrie and Lisa; brothers, Dale (Yvonne), Harold (Susan), Bernie (Bonnie), Duaine; her mother-in-law Mabel Chapman; sister-in-law Muriel (Fraser) McIntosh; brother-in-law Don (Rose) Chapman and their families; special friends Joe and Karn and the countless friends, family members, and co-workers who shared her time with us. Cheryl will always be with us in our memories as a devoted wife and mother and friend. Each of us will share our own special memories. The family will especially treasure her warm and generous nature, gentle sense of humour, and her care and concern for others. We will recall how much she enjoyed reading, the ever-growing collection of gourmet recipes and Italian cooking lessons, the annual trip to Camp Waterfall and her love of travel and especially camping. Trips to Marthas Vineyard, Washington, Atlanta, the Bay of Fundy and recent annual treks to New York brought great delight. She was looking forward to much more travel when her health improved. Unfortunately, that was not to be. Her enjoyment in family gatherings and holidays will carry on in our future celebrations as we remember all the extra touches she provided to make sure our times together were special. Most of all we will remember her dedication to us and her commitment to her work at Great West Life even during the illness that claimed her from us. Her courage in the face of a particularly daunting illness will continue to inspire us. Until the very end of her life, Cheryl maintained a positive attitude and continued to plan for the day when she could resume normal activities. Cheryl, your leaving has left a hole in our hearts that time will not erase. We can only believe that you are at peace in a better place than we can understand. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, people may wish to consider a donation to the Hemophiliac Society. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Boniface Hospital and especially to Dr. Shojania. You made a very difficult time a little bit easier for us all. Until We Meet Again! LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860."
