WEEKLY GREETING
- this has been a hard one to write
YOUR WORDS
- choose them carefully, they can heal or kill
LIKE A CHILD
- humility and a teachable spirit are what we need
Wow… time flies… one day just drifts into the next and before you know,
the week is done and the weekend has come. It’s interesting how when
I start a MPOV, I know just what I want to talk about, but by the time
it’s in the middle, I don’t really find the motivation/time to wrap it
all up. Of course, part of it is that I want my words to count…
I suppose it’s convenient that Mr. William Jefferson Clinton is in a bit of a spot because of a few things he has said. He told the American people, “I did not have sex with THAT WOMAN, Monica Lewinsky”, and on record, he could not remember ever being alone with her, as he testified before a grand jury. His trouble comes partly because he has a chronic problem with honestly, and mainly because that problem manifested itself in the words he spoke.
The words we use will either acquit or condemn us. And most of us do not take our own words seriously. We throw them out as carelessly as some throw garbage out of the car window. We speak compliments we really don’t mean. We make promises we don’t intend to keep. We put others down in a jesting manner. We abuse the ones we love, with cutting remarks and trite insults. Sometimes, we don’t realize the weight of our words. But when we do, it’s often too late to remedy what we have created by careless expressions. Let us speak from the heart, knowing that our words have both the power to heal and to kill.
Speak words of healing. Speak words of life.
Jesus said, unless you change and become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. There are two aspects of childhood that I want to emphasize – the humble spirit, and the teachable nature.
One of the most deadly sins is pride. When we are proud, we will not be willing to accept any faults or sins in ourselves, and if we fail to realize our need of a saviour, we will not call on one. And so, we need to become like little children, willing to be saved, because we are humble enough to recognize our need.
Once we have decided to accept Jesus’ salvation and be saved, the next step is to be a disciple, to follow Him. As followers, we have to be willing to be taught – to accept in instruction. A child has been identified as one who “knows not, and knows that he knows not”. That teachable nature enables us to be true followers of Jesus, rather than rebels who flinch anytime God points out something in us that would be better out of us.
Unless we change and become like little children, heaven has no place
for us.
I DON’T THINK I CAN WRITE ANYMORE RIGHT NOW
Look for a powerpacked next one =)
God bless!
