The majority of the information that I have on the Aagaard and Deichmann
Families came from a book entitled "Legatfamilien Aagaard
from Juelstrup Praestegaard" by Max Grohshennig, published in 1905.
The book came about as means of recording the genealogy of the family of
Lauritz Jacobsen Aagaard and Anna (Deichmann) for the purpose of the
administration of two family legacy funds that were established in
their names, to provide for their financially needy descendents. As
recorded in the introduction of this book, "The Legacy's legitimate justification is the reason they have been
able to print the genealogy of this family."
The Deichmann Legacy was established on 26 Apr 1869 by the will of Bolette Cathrine Kraft Gyldendal,
widow of Chancellor Bookstore owner Jacob Deichmann. The Legacy amount was about 630,000 Kr. whose interest
was divided in lifelong lots to widowers and unmarried daughters of
government employees and members of the family, as well as the Bookdealer's
widow and daughters. The Legacy was controlled by High Court lawyer V. Teguer, Criminal Judge V.J. Ingerslev and Chambermann Otto Buhl.
On the 5 Feb 1790, the will of Peder Deichmann Aagard established
the Aagaard Family Legacy. It's interest was divided in
lifelong portions to five unmarried older spinsters and two widowers. The
Legacy was controlled by Chamber Advisor, The Bell Ringer at VorFuekirke in Copenhagen, D.H. Aagaard
and the Dean for Hornum Herred.
Note: I am a direct descendent of Lauritz Jacobsen Aagaard on my paternal
line. I am still in the process of transcribing this book, so my
database is not totally complete, yet. Many of the people in this
record can also be
found in the International Genealogical Index, which can be accessed at
FamilySearch.org.
