The History of Geauga County, Ohio, states that Gilbert Ferriss came to
Burton Ohio in Dec 1807, with his wife, three young children, and his wife's
sister. Later we read that son Edwin Jude was born on 6 Sept 1801 in Otsego
Co. NY. The birthdate we have for Maria is 22 Oct 1799. Gilbert Ferriss shows
up on the Butternuts, NY 1800 census with a wife and a female child under 10
years. I believe this is Maria, and feel that based on the sources mentioned,
she was probably born in Butternuts, Otsego, NY.
