Obituary: - Kamloops Daily News August 11, 2001.

Mrs. Elizabeth Varanai (nee Vegh) passed away in her 90th year on August 9, 2001 at Pine Grove Lodge, Kamloops, B.C.

Mom was ethnic Hungarian born in Sokolovac, Yugoslavia in 1911.

She was predeceased by her son Steve in 1974, her husband Julius in 1986 and her brother Johan Vegh in Schönaich, Germany in 2000.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Albert of Chicago, Illinois, her daughters Betty (Alton) Green of West Vancouver and Julianne Swords of Kamloops; grandchildren, Duane (Trudy) Green, Valarie (Scott) Weston both of North Vancouver, Kerri-Anne (Harold) Lopez of Portland, Oregon and great-grandsons, James and Anders, Weston, Steven and Thomas Green.

Those who knew her loved and respected her kind and gentle manner. She was blessed with a great sense of humour and quick wit.

Mom came to Canada in 1930, she met and married dad in Vancouver, moving to Kamloops in 1937.

Prayer Service will be recited on Monday, August 13, 2001 at 7:0 pm at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 14th, 2001 at 12:00 (noon) at the church with Father Joseph Dahlem, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the family plot, Hillside Cemetery.
