SEKURA
MRS. THERESA SEKURA of Taber, beloved wife of the late Mr. John F. Sekura Sr., passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at the age of 94 years. Theresa was born to Michael and Maria Merk! on March 22, 1904 in Sokolvak, Yugoslavia. She married John F. Sekura in 1923. In 1925, John immigrated to Canada in search of a better life for his family. Two years later Theresa with her first born child, Mary, came to Canada and joined John. Together they had farmed in the Taber area up until retiring to the town of Taber in 1964. After John's passing in 1978, Theresa remained in Taber residing at the Clearview Lodge and most recently the Taber Continuing Care Facility. There was never a shortage of food at meal time as she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Theresa spent much time tending to her garden and was especially fond of her children and grandchildren and watching them grow. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Theresa is survived by her children: Mary (Alex) Bodie of Coaldale and John Jr. (Jolane) Sekura of Taber, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Besides her husband John F. Sr., she was predeceased by a daughter Catherine in 1955; four sisters and one brother. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at SOUTHLAND FUNERAL CHAPEL (5006-48th Ave.) Taber, on Friday, June 19, 1998 at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. AUGUSTINE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH (5009-48th Ave.) Taber, on Saturday, June 20, 1998 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Father David Meadows celebrant. Interment will follow in the Taber Memorial Garden.
