VALGARDSON - Mr. Marvin Dean Valgardson, beloved husband of Mrs. Theresa Valgardson of Taber, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family at the Taber Continuing Care facility on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the age of 81 yeas. Besides his loving wife Theresa, he is survived by his loving children, Bob (Arlene) Valgardson Larry (Marion) Valgardson, Ed (Jennifer) Valgardson, Pat ( Ross Calverley, Pete (Pat) Valgardson and Kathy (Norman) Czibere; grandchildren, Claire Valgardson, Scott Valgardson LeeAnn (Jared) Schindler, Jenna, Joe, Theresa and Erin Valgardson, Cory and Kristy Valgardson (fiance Jeff Bell), Carrie Bolen (George Vayro), Rae-Ann Spencer, Angels and Nathan Valgardson, Michell, Graham and Abby Czibere. Marvin is also survived by brothers and sisters, Tilde Valgardson, Ralph (Chris) Valgardson, Douglas Valgardson, Arlene (Ed) Flickinger and Arnie (Dorothy) Valgardson, brother-in-law Tony (Irene Merkl), sister-in-law Doreen Merkl as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Vigdis Valgardson, mother and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Anton Merkl, a sister-in-law Phylis Valgardson and a brother-in-law Frank Merkl. Marvin was born in Taber on April 11, 1921, a son born to Pete and Vigdis Valgardson. He was born and raised in Taber and later met then married Theresa Merkle on October 25, 1947. The couple farmed in Taber for many years and raised their family of six children. Marvin was a devoted family man and liked to spend his time with those that meant the most to him.. his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed earning his living as a farmer and liked to go fishing with friends at his favorite fishing hole. Marvin was a real people person and was well liked by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Southland Funeral Chapel (5006-48th Ave.) Taber on Friday, March 7, 2003 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre (4709-50th Ave.) Taber, on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop David Walters officiating. Cremation will take place following the funeral service.
