LINA DE GUEVARA
Lina de Guevara is an actor, theatre director and drama teacher. Originally from Chile, she has become well known in Canada over the last 25 years for her specialized work in Transformational theatre, Theatre of the Oppressed and Commedia dell’Arte. Lina is the founder and artistic director of Puente Theatre in Victoria BC. Since 1988 Puente has been creating and producing plays about the immigrant experience. Her director’s credits include among others, Mother Courage, Uthe/Athe, Chile con Carne, Emergence and, most recently, Canadian Tango performed at The Intrepid Theatre Studio in November, 2009. She has studied intensively with Augusto Boal, the originator of Theate of the Opressed and was invited to participate, with her company Puente, in the 1992 Festival of Theatre of the Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and again in 1998 in Toronto.
