CONTINUING STUDIES
These courses are offered for those acting students ready for the next challenge in their theatrical learning. Students are supported to expand and develop in their vocal and physical repertoire as well as in their ability to work with others in scenes or with monologue material. Certain classes will focus on a specific style or methodology they can put to their professional work or theatrical development. Students need to have some level of experience or confidence to take any of the continuing studies courses.
CONTINUING DRAMATIC SKILLS
The next step in an acting class, this course will focus on approaches to technique, character development, scene study and monologue work. The instructor will coach and guide the students to stretch in their craft and will provide them with more advanced techniques and tools. Auditioning, applying to theatre schools, making connections in the Victoria theatre scene will be discussed in each session. It can be taken more than once as the instructor works to meet each student’s need as they progress through the year.

PREPARING SHAKESPEARE!
Want to land that audition for the Victoria Shakespeare Society or for the theatre school of your choice but need some outside support? Or are you interested in delving into Shakespeare and expanding your creative repertoire but aren't sure where to start? We have devised this course just for you. In this approach to classical text, Karen Lee will work with each person to develop a dramatic or comedic Shakespearean monologue of the appropriate length for your needs. Integrated into insights and coaching on a Shakespeare verse monologue, there will be exploration of text and iambic pentameter, and vocal and character development so that students are more comfortable and confident with their work.
Winter Session:
Feb. 23– March 29 (6 weeks)
Thursdays 7:00–10:00pm
Instructor: Karen Lee Pickett.
