YOUTH PERFORMANCE COMPANY    Ages 12–15

Entrance into this program by interview or with studio permission. Call 250-386-8593 or email to set up an appointment for early January.

Entering its third year, this popular program is for those young teens who are looking for a longer term and intensive theatrical challenge.

The year is broken into two parts, one in the fall and the other over the winter and spring. Students can take one or both. Each term will have a skill development component along with a performance component where, at the end of the term, the students will perform numerous times in the community to a variety of audiences including schools, recreation centers, senior’s centers, markets, etc. These performances are non-negotiable and part of the commitment to the program.

Collaboration and commitment to the ensemble is a crucial part of the learning as well as giving the students an amazing opportunity to develop street theatre and overall performance skills.

Each student will be supported and encouraged to grow in their dramatic skill development and confidence. Theatre skill level, maturity, commitmen,t and ability to work well with others are all important components that are considered when a student applies for this class.

Some volunteering will be asked of parents (e.g. car pooling or driving to venues, help with selling tickets at the door, etc.). We do our best to keep the time commitment down for these jobs but, as theatre is a labour intensive art, some help is gratefully appreciated.

Admission to venues the students may be performing at is not included in the class fee. Ticket prices help defray the cost of renting professional venue spaces.
