All my Shelties are, first and foremost,
my beloved pets.
They live with us in our home and go in and out as they please.
Puppies are born in a spare bedroom, which is turned
into a nursery so that mom and babies have peace and quiet.
At about 2 or 3 weeks of age, they are moved into the living
room where most of the furniture is removed so that they have
lots of room to play and explore. We spend most of our time
in this area as do our dogs and puppies. Friends and neighbours
come in and play with everybody, so they are very well socialized.
I breed one or two litters a year, with the very rare exception.
When I plan to breed a litter, the most important aspects are
health and excellent temperament. My goal is to produce healthy
dogs with excellent temperaments that conform as closely to the
standard as possible. The most perfect looking dog would be
totally useless to me if his/her temperament would not be
outgoing and steady. After all, I and anybody that buys
a puppy from me, has to live with these dogs for a longtime.
Caralil was established in 1972,
although I purchased my first Sheltie
in 1970.
I concentrated on obedience for the first
few years and then
decided to try breeding for show much
later.
I have produced 15 homebred CKC champions,
including 2 High in Trial Shelties.
