Artist’s Statement My art has a very deep,
profound connection with where I’ve been, and how I remember each fleeting
moment. My paintings have special meaning to me, a sense of something
important, a treasure I can share with others.
I paint what a camera cannot capture, where the essence of mood,
feelings, desire, wonderment and memory intermingle with medium and color.
I enjoy the expression of paint on canvas, board or paper; I work in
oils, acrylics, watercolors, and mixed medium. Painting in various styles,
Impressionism, Modernism and Semi-abstract define my work.
I like to bring the passion of the old world into the present. Through
layering of multiple glazes, I produce a feeling of calm and majesty that is
so rare in our hectic environment. Other times, I exaggerate and play with
the drama, intensity, and pace of today’s life with strong color and
sweeping brush strokes.
Painting centers me. It appeals to my sense of discovery of as yet
unknown possibilities. It is an expression of my creative soul. |
