Motto: "We Care About Nature"
January
is a time for sharing and caring
When nights are brought to light
By millions of crystallized snowflakes
Each different from the other
Tiny glistening prisms of light
Deer bound through forests
And snow laden fields
To seek food laid out
By caring gnomes
Here you see Skip the gnome, who resides at #17 Mushroom Lane©, carrying a bundle of special herb grass outside vacant #3 Mushroom Lane© deep in the forest that surrounds the gnome village of Mushroom Lane.
#3 Mushroom Lane© is a magic place; it is inhabited by a very special group of wee folk, who create bundles of hay, mixed with special magical herbs, that gnomes hang from trees helping their forest friends survive during times when food is scarce.

I hope you enjoyed this episode from the new series, The Gnomes of Mushroom Lane. Mushroom Lane is a registered trademark of Cornish Heritage Farms. The mushroom homes used throughout this series are part of a set marketed as rubber stamps. This month's featured Mushroom Lane home stamp is #SL-2404PUMSC #3 (approximately 4 x 5 inches) and can be ordered by contacting liz@cornishheritagefarms.com or by visiting the Cornish Heritage Farms' website at www.cornishheritagefarms.com
The "Trees Background" in this card was created with rubber stamp number SL-1179T from SonLight Impressions; the dark green is actually shredded wool. Skip the gnome, the moon and the deer are cut outs placed in this scene using foam pop-up-dots giving this picture card a super 3-D look. Skip the gnome is available as a rubber stamp (see our rubber stamp page for ordering information). The magical hay carried by Skip was created with tinsel which unfortunately doesn't show up well in the picture but actually looks awesome.
This 'bible' was originally published in 1979 and has continued to enchant readers for many years. It is truly a classic book. The book dust jacket is much the same; it has a red frame around it and is embossed. The cover is silver to designate it as a 30th anniversary edition. The only other differences, I could find, were the two pages of epilogue written by Wil Hugyen (an honorary member of the WWGA) and one picture of some of Rien's original gnome sketches done in 1978. If you don't have a copy of the original book this one is now available!

As a Gnome lover and collector, I've often wondered if they pray separately
from their times of communicating with earthly surroundings. When you see a
Gnome looking pensive and by himself, for sure he's communicating with the
universe and appreciating everything around him. This fellow, however, is the
first one I've ever seen with hands in a prayerful position.
Isn't he wonderful? I haven't named him yet. He's 15 in. tall and just came to live in my bedroom. I have a small tape/CD player in the bedroom, to enjoy classical music, Gregorian Chant, and doing the Rosary.
This fellow was instantly at home. He made fast friends with the other bedroom Gnomes. Some are young, some are older, and this fellow fit right in. His peaceful, tender demeanor created a special atmosphere. All my home's Gnomes communicate frequently. Once in a while, I move some around to different locations. They appreciate a change of scene just like us humans.
Gnomes have deep reverence for each other, the universe as a whole, and for all living things. They're so dear, loving and protective.
We humans often have days when we run into one kerfuffle after another, and it can surely help if we learn to do what this little Gnome is doing. We live in a society that can't be still for very long. Too many humans have that trouble - inwardly and outwardly. Cars have blasting radios. People drive talking on cell phones or have loud conversations on them next to you in restaurants. Many need the constant background of all-day TV. Cell phones even ring in Church. Public libraries and book stores are plagued with inconsiderate cell phone users. Too many kids in Church services have snacks or drinks (that parents give them). Some even noisily chew gum during services (copying parents).
This quiet, prayerful Gnome doesn't need to say a single word. His posture and facial expression say it all. I think he's a special teacher. He's totally centered, peaceful … and just looking at him is conducive to feeling the same way.
Whenever a Gnome comes to live in my home, visitors ask where I found him/her. I always say, "When you believe in them, they let you know where they are!"

Making greeting cards for special occasions is wonderful; but,
imagine receiving a card on a regular day! Gnomes love to celebrate and gnome
children are encouraged to make cards, both at home and in school, to brighten
the days of others. What a wonderful and thoughtful idea. Something we could all
do.
For those more experienced card makers, and a tip for those just learning, embossing is a method that brings images to life; adding sparkle and dimension. When creating 3-D cards with frames and clear plastic windows try using transparent sheets made for use in photocopiers rather than ordinary acrylic sheets. Although it is slightly thinner it can be embossed! But you must get the transparencies for use in photocopiers not printers.

My grandmother is going to have a knee replacement done in January. She has had trouble walking for a few years now and has decided to get one replaced. Her surgery will be in January and then after surgery she will go into rehab for about one month. Then later on in the year she will get the other one replaced. She once told us a few years back that she will be buried in the knees she was born with (but now I don't think that is going to happen). She had and still has declared she will NOT be put in a wheel chair. Hopefully things will go ok. More info will be posted on the GalaxGnomes website homepage. If it isn't much trouble, could you put a prayer request in the January newsletter? That's if it isn't much trouble. I think it would help her knowing that the members of the WWGA are praying for a successful surgery and recovery. Patrick II G285

Hello... What a nice letter! I'm not home at the moment, but I think I have 5 to 7 of these Gnomes left. They are all from the same producer as the praying fellow. I am in the process of trying to get more though. I have some of these Gnomes on my eBay auctions right now and includes a 2 very rare Female Gnomes. They are extremely cute. The artist is very original! I would love for you to share my email address with your fellow "Gnomers". My email address is joemomma091401@yahoo.com Corinne Snyder
