Motto: "We Care About Nature"
With
the approach of summer in the Northern Hemisphere gnomes are especially
concerned with forest fires.
Although some forest fires are the result of carelessness others are caused by acts of nature; like lightening.
In Mushroom Lane the gnomes have constructed their very own Fire Station. There is no fire truck however the station is equipped with some very scientific equipment which the gnomes use not only to detect fires but also weather changes. There is also a conservatory at the top where gnomes come to study the stars.
The Gnomes of Mushroom lane are very concerned with the effects of global warming; which is happening at an alarming rate. A special group of gnomes from all over the world have organized themselves to study and prepare for the effects.
We too as inhabitants of Earth can take part in looking after it. Simple acts such as disposing of all garbage properly - something everyone can do - will benefit. Get involved with a local group, or even create your own group to study more about what you can do to help keep Mother Earth healthy.
I hope you enjoyed this episode from the Mushroom Lane series. Mushroom Lane© is a registered trademark of Cornish Heritage Farms. Wow, book three in the trilogy by author Ken Ramirez is now available. Don't
miss out on getting your copy so that you can discover what happens to our
little heroes as they come to the end of their exciting journey.
The Hidden Forest, final segment of the Naida’s Quest Trilogy finds Naida, the young gnome with incredible healing powers, Randin, her good friend, and the elf princess, Hayden, enjoying a much needed rest in Silverwood. Silverwood is Hayden’s home, safe haven for the three travelers. But war between the humans and trolls is eminent and now that spring has arrived, they must continue their quest.
Naida desperately wants to find her parents and she truly believes they are being held captive by the evil Celina. That means just one thing, they must venture into the human world in search of the healing gnomes that have been long been the subject of rumors throughout the kingdoms. The dangers these brave, young characters have previously faced are nothing compared to what they must now confront. But they will have the help of many throughout the elfin world, for the many kingdoms must come together to stop the trolls from doing Celina’s bidding.
Author, Ken Ramirez, has again filled the pages of this last book of his trilogy, with incredible characters, excitement, fear and joy. He continues to write with such vibrant detail that the reader becomes one with the travelers, creeping silently though the troll caverns, crossing swift flowing rivers on rotting tree trunks or marching along sun dappled forest paths. This story will capture the imagination of all the young readers who open the cover and venture inside.
I am pleased to recommend the complete trilogy, including book three, The Hidden Forest to all fantasy enthusiasts both young and young at heart.

Gnomes & Sizes of Their Animal Friends
A friend's children asked about Gnomes helping animals that grow to be larger than Gnomes.
Of course, Gnomes make immediate friends with baby animals in the woodland areas where Gnomes live. Making friends early in life gives woodland animals a special confidence that Gnomes will help them in the days ahead. In turn, animals help Gnomes, too.
Piggyback technique can be useful to transport an injured animal like a rabbit, etc. Keep in mind that a male Gnome can be seven times stronger than a human man. Gnome hearts are very large in relation to body size, and that allows for considerable strength. Naturally, a few Gnomes would be needed to quickly make a litter for transporting an injured animal the size of a deer.
Because Gnomes are so gifted, their doctors usually treat patients on site. Medicinal formulas have been passed down for hundreds of years, and no chemicals are used. They have anesthetics and special implements, home-made salves and bandages -- and they don't make mistakes in their surgeries or with careless diagnoses. (We humans should be so lucky !)
If a Gnome happens upon an injured animal, he can always find a bird or swift fox to take a message back to his home in order to pick up his medical bag. If extra Gnomes are needed, the messenger animal can pass the word around and start helpers in the right direction.
The bunny above is getting his paw bandaged. Gnomes are so inventive, they will always find a way to help an animal of any size.
Animals help Gnomes in many ways, too. Take hats as a perfect example. Deer fur is warm and easy to work with. Many Gnomes layer it onto their hats by smoothing the fur 'round and 'round. Gnome boots often have fur attached to the soles, which helps assure Gnomes that they leave no obvious footprints for bad forest creatures to detect (like evil snotgurgles or trolls).

This beautiful gnome hair comb was recently spotted for sale on the Ebay auction site. Remember when searching the auction sites that typing in the singular version of a word will bring different results. Also, don't forget the other versions for the word "Gnome" such as "Kabouter" or "Nisse"!
