Kitten: This
little guy died of chronic illness shortly after we captured
him. Unfortunately, the stress of confinement can sometimes
fatally compromise the weakened immune system of a young
Maverick cat. We remember watching him play hide-and-seek
at night with another young kitten both of them leaping
and dancing in the moonlight without a care in the world!

These cats go to church every
Sunday and every other day of the week as well. Thats
because they consider the church grounds they live on to be
quite appropriate living quarters. We feed them regularly
and ensure that they remain in good health. Unfortunately,
some members of the congregation dont support our work.
Perhaps they should study their Bibles a little more carefully! |

This feline is a graceful beauty
yet always aloof and distant. Alert, intelligent and
seemingly impossible to trap, she seems born to be wild.
Mother of countless kittens and distrustful of people, she
is a Maverick whom we will always care for. |

Choo-choo:
Yet another street cat that did not pass Shelter Living 101,
Choo-Choo was captured and put into a shelter with constant
volunteer care and outdoor access. At the end of several months,
however, he was very surly and depressed. We knew that if
he continued to be confined, chronic illness would develop;
therefore, the decision was made to release him back to his
old neighborhood. Two years later, Choo-Choo is robust and
healthy--living in an abandoned house where hes fed
on a regular basis. |

Orange-bob:
Orange-Bob is a junkyard cat. He has several dedicated feeders
who take turns making nightly forays into his quiet, industrial
homeland. Lasting only three weeks in a shelter, where his
condition and temperament went into dramatic decline, we released
him back to his familiar territory. He sleeps in an old Cadillac
during the day and is always alert and watchful at night.
Fairly aloof, Orange-Bob permits a chosen few to approach;
but no one has been able to pet him.

Babe:
This female cat is living in a greenbelt. She is fortunate
to have dedicated caretakers and two of her family members
Boots and Friskie keeping her company. |
 |
Ellie and
Onyx: These two were living on scraps from a fast food
restaurant until we helped them. The black cat, Onyx, was
successfully tamed and adopted out Ellie is still shy
and skittish, but is comfortable living in a shelter where
she is fed good quality food. |
