Participate in our "Sponsor a Maverick Cat Program"
Once your Maverick Cat is treated and returned, you will receive a picture of him or her. We will also provide a brief description of your cat's circumstances and how your donation has been applied.
To sponsor a Maverick cat, please fill out our Donor / Sponsor / Volunteer form (PDF file) and mail it to:

Tax receipts will be issued.

2005 Events/Activities/Progress
Purina cat food coupons continue to trickle in. We have over 30 coupons remaining, ready to be redeemed for our feral/stray cat feeders/caregivers.

On January 29, we held our first Ladies Clothing Swap/Silent Auction. Every woman walked away with something to take home and we netted a total of $32.50.

The Treasurer attended a meeting on March 1 at the Vancouver Foundation to discuss the creation of an umbrella animal advocacy organization to further common issues of all animal rescue groups.

March 12-13 - five teams of trappers were out on the weekend at various sites throughout Surrey, Coquitlam, Burnaby and East Vancouver to trap as many cats as possible. A total of 6 Maverick Cats were brought in and treatment was provided (for free) by the Vancouver SPCA. In total, 20 cats were given treatment that day and we are happy to report that another TNR group, Urban Lions, exists and handles situations in Vancouver and Burnaby. Discussions are underway to collaborate with this new group.

Thursday, April 28 - The Treasurer attended a rally in support of the low cost veterinarians that support our work at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Saturday, April 30 - Burnaby Volunteer Fair – We are delighted to report that we won a prize and were nominated first place for Best Display at this event! There was a lot of interest in our booth and a couple people expressed an interest in volunteering. Click here to see the article that appeared in Burnaby NOW.

Saturday, May 7th turned out overcast and warm — a perfect day for sales. All sorts of items were available for sale from books to trunks. Crowds of people came through and the last hours were spent negotiating a fair price. Special thanks goes to Joanna, Elise, Marg, Sue, Ryan, Carole, David & Cylia who were on hand to help make this a success. A total of $502.22 was raised in this one-day event.

Wednesday, June 8 - The Treasurer participated in a web seminar on "Community and Colony Solutions for Feral Cats".

Saturday, June 18, July 16, August 20 - in collaboration with Earthsave, Maverick Cat raised $366.72 in book sales from these three fundraisers.

Saturday, August 6 - Several groups, including ours, were in attendance at the Animal Rights Day at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
