Greatest Female Character (WARNING: Metal Gear Solid 3 Spoilers)
The Boss is not only the greatest female characters but one of the greatest of either gender.
Rydia, Celes, Aeris, Nanami, Ovelia, Rinoa, Yuna, the White Maiden Chris of the Zexen Knights - There are many great female characters from over the years, with powerful roles. But never has any female character evoked as much true respect and emotion as The Boss does in MGS3. It almost leaves me speechless, everytime I watch the ending to Snake Eater.
I'm very passionate about serious war and military epics, whether it's a more modern like Saving Private Ryan, The Thin Red Line, or Blackhawk Down, or a historical like Braveheart. And the emotion that Snake Eater conveys easily is on par with the most powerful scenes in those classics. There's just something amazing about The Boss. Right down to her very core, and her personal aura, even how she looks. Her appearance itself seems so mature and unrivaled. She builds such a mountain of awe throughout the story and in the end it almost erupts all at once. Even in scenes where it shows her impact on others, and on Snake. There's something so real about it, almost something you'd desire to feel.
Chris from Suikoden 3, Aeris from Final Fantasy 7, or Celes from Final Fantasy 6 -- those three are all amazing woman. They all have extremely emotional and impacted their stories in a deep way. But there's just a sense of power in The Boss that they can't rival. She just feels... So Real. Like you want to exist, a hero you wish you could have the honor of knowing sacrificed for your country.
Kojima really created a true masterpiece with Snake Eater and The Boss. Not only the greatest woman in gaming fiction, but one of the greatest characters of either gender. I feel confident with those words.
