I am a freelance musician in St Albert, Alberta Canada. Having made my living this way since 1985, I have had a wide variety of opportunities and experiences. I predominantly work with Canadian recording acts doing concerts, fairs and festivals, as well as being an active studio musician.
Living here in the heartland of Canadian country music has meant that a large part of my career has been involved with that style of playing. As such, I have been fortunate to work with the vast majority of Canada’s domestic country stars in one form or another.
I am equally proud of the work that I have done as a studio player, having worked on over 50 albums, jingles, demos, and television. One of my highlights was recording the opening/closing ceremonies music for the World Games in Athletics in 2001. This called for me to play many styles, often covering several in each track, as each piece of music tried to represent the music and cultures of an entire continent.
As an educator, my hectic schedule has dictated a fairly relaxed approach to teaching. I have never been a 30 minute per week type of teacher, instead I have adopted more of a student/mentor approach. This obviously limits the amount of students I might work with, but I feel is ultimately more beneficial for both the student and myself. Aside from that, I have conducted clinics and seminars for various music stores and associations. |
