Trevor Cameron - Hockey Canada announced Tuesday, Sept 21 the 41 players selected to attend the 2010 Team Canada West Evaluation Camp roster. Fourten of the 41 players selected are BC-born and one from Mission BC (Trevor Cameron).

Michael McGowan - Michael, has been invited to attend the High Performance Officials Camp. This 5 day camp is being held in Salmon Arm from July 20-24. Congratulations Michael~!

Kolten Grieve - Kolten, has been selected to participate in the BC Hockey U17 Championship 2010 BC Cup in 100 Mile House on the Bruins' team. The event takes place April 28 – May 2. Congratulations Kolten~!

Michael McGowan - Michael, has been selected to participate in the BC Hockey U17 Championship 2010 BC Cup in 100 Mile House as an offical. He is 1 of 8 officials that have been selected from the lower mainland. The event takes place April 28 – May 2. Congratulations Michael~!

Brandon Formosa - Brandon, who was selected to participate in the BC Hockey U17 Championship 2009 BC Cup in Salmon Arm on the Leafs team, which ran from April 30th to May 3rd, placed 2nd in the Championship where they lost 2-1 to team Canucks in the final.  Brandon scored the lone goal for team Leafs. As well, Brandon finished tied for 10th place in scoring (out of 108 players) and tied for 3rd in goals.  Great job Brandon.  Congratulations!! The top 46 players will be invited to the Provincial Development Camp in July.  Good luck Brandon.  We hope you are one of the lucky 46 players!

Trevor Cameron - Trevor's team, the Notre Dame Hounds, WON the 2009 National Midget AAA Championship - TELUS Cup on April 26th.  Congratulations to you and the team Trevor!! Trevor is a 1992 born player who joined Notre Dame 3 years ago. The TELUS Cup was held in Selkirk, Manitoba this season, from Monday, April 20th to Sunday, April 26th with the finals televised live on TSN2.

Brandon Formosa - Brandon has been selected to participate in the 2009 BC Hockey U17 Championship - BC Cup in Salmon Arm, which runs from April 30th to May 3rd. Brandon was one of the 278 players selected from approximately 3,000 eligible players invited to local District camps. From these 278 players, 120 players were invited to the BC Cup. U17 is for players born in 1993. Brandon has been "rostered" to the Maple Leafs for this Championship.  Congratulations to Brandon and good luck at the BC Cup.  NOTE:  Mission MHA hosted this U17 championship last year.

Brandon Formosa to play in 2008 Male U-16 in Japan - Congratulations to Brandon Formosa who has been selected to represent Canada in the male 2008 U-16 Nagano Olympic Memorial Cup in Japan.  This is an amazing accomplishment.  We are all proud of you Brandon and wish you all the best!!

 

Brandon Formosa selected to play in 2008 BC Winter Games - Mission's Brandon Formosa has been selected to represent the Fraser Valley in the U-16 tournament at the 2008 BC Winter games in Kimberley-Cranbrook, Feb. 21-24/08.  He was selected from a group of 120+ players.  Well done Brandon!  Mission Minor Hockey is proud of your accomplishment and we know that you will represent the Fraser Valley well.

Congratulations to the Bantam "A" Stars - The Bantam "A" Stars placed 2nd in the Langley Christmas 2007 tournament.  The team worked very hard, but lost in double overtime to New Westminster.  Well done team!!

Marleen Galos awarded PCAHA 2006 President's Service Award

Adam Hobson, former MMHA player, drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2005 NHL Entry Draft

Adam Hobson, who played his minor hockey with MMHA, and currently plays with the Pensacola Ice Pilots of the ECHL, was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 7th round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft held on Saturday, July 30, 2005 in Ottawa.  Read the Blackhawks' draft write-up on Adam.  All of us within MMHA and all of Mission wish to congratulate Adam on his draft in to the NHL!  Way to go Adam!

 

Erik Spady, MMHA alumni, signs with Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL - posted 07/31/05

Erik Spady, 16, who played all his minor hockey with MMHA until being signed by the Ridge Meadows Flames of the PIJHL in 2004, was signed by the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BC Hockey League on July 25, 2005.  Erik will be leaving for Salmon Arm in mid-August to join their training camp and meet the team.  The Silverbacks and the City of Salmon Arm will play host to the 2006 BCHL All-Star Game on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at 7:30pm at the Sunwave Centre.  Erik was also invited to the BC Provincial U-17 Team Pacific evaluation/try out camp but was not selected.  All of MMHA and Mission send our congratulations to you Erik and wish you all the best.

 

Mission players drafted in the 2005 WHL Bantam draft in Calgary

Congratulations go out to Jordan Hickmott and Kelly Klassen on being drafted in the 2005 WHL Bantam draft held on May 5/05 in Calgary, Alberta.  Jordan was selected in the first round (18th overall) by the Medicine Hat Tigers and Kelly was selected in the 9th round (168th overall) by the Prince Albert Raiders.  Both Jordan and Kelly played on this years BC Best Ever under 16 team for Zone 3 (Fraser Valley).  Jordan and Kelly were selected out of 85 players from Zone 3.  Jordan and Kelly played on MMHA's Bantam "AA" team and were coached by Dan Renaud.  Everyone at MMHA congratulates Jordan and Kelly for their hard work in being drafted by the WHL.  We are proud of you both!!

 

Former  Mission players named to Team Canada U-18 team and to the Fraser Valley U-17 Best of BC team

Congratulations go out once again to former MMHA player, Adam Hobson, who was a member of the 2005 Team Canada U-18 Silver Medal winning team at this years 2005 U-18 World Championship held in the Czech Republic from April 14 - 24/05.  Adam scored a goal and contributed greatly to Team Canada's second place finish.  Adam was also a member of last years 2004 U-18 Gold Winning Team Canada.  CONGRATULATIONS ADAM!!

 

We also congratulate former MMHA player, Erik Spady, who played an instrumental roll on the 2005 U-17 Fraser Valley team by scoring a goal and 2 assists (actually 3, one was missed) in taking FIRST PLACE at the BCAHA Best Ever 2005 U-17 CCM BC Cup in Salmon Arm from April 28 - May 1.  Way to go Erik!  We are so proud of your achievements!

 

Former MMHA player remembered

We are sad to announce the sudden passing of former MMHA player, Danny Kimber, aged 21, on Sept. 18, 2004, while playing the game he loved, hockey.   Danny will always be remembered as an inspirational player to those around him.  Danny's memorial service, held on Friday, September 24th at 2:00pm at the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, was attended by over 600 people who's lives Danny touched in his short time with us.  Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to all the Kimber family members.

 

Mission member receives PCAHA President's Service Award

Past registrar, Paul Stouse, was awarded the 2003/04 PCAHA President's Service Award for his time and effort given in assisting his fellow registrar's with the new Hockey Canada registration software program.  Marleen Galos, President of MMHA, accepted the award on Paul's behalf at the PCAHA AGM in Abbotsford on May 30, 2004.
