ears of working experience in the fields of design, writing and editing for both Web and print have given me a versatile, strongly developed skill set.
|
Perhaps even more importantly, I can quickly and ably respond to the industry's demands to keep learning new skills and technologies.
Here are a few things I can do:
|
|
|
- Design, illustrate and produce graphic materials:
I have been working steadily as a freelance graphic designer for web and traditional media since 1998, continually refining my design skills and proficiency with industry standard graphic applications, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Imageready and Acrobat, Macromedia Flash and Quark Express.
- Lift heavy objects:
Through sheer physical exertion combined with no small amount of mental tenacity, I can lift heavy objects.
- Build, develop and refine websites from both a designer's and user's perspective:
I excel in building raw designs into useable, smooth-running websites that fulfill a designer's vision while optimizing useability. I hand-code HTML, usually in Allaire Homesite, and have a complimentary knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets and Javascript.
- Write and edit copy for the Web and print:
My academic training and experience as a teacher at McMaster University has given me a powerful background in writing, research and editing. Post-grad freelance work in journalism, advertising and business writing has honed these skills in a variety of contexts. I focus on bringing clarity and impact to business writing.
- Avoid seriously antagonizing co-workers and clients:
I am experienced in working with a team of Creative Directors, Editors, Designers and Project Managers, and in representing my company and its product to clients and prospective clients. I have thus attained the necessary familiarity with principles of deportment, diplomacy and personal hygiene to avoid provoking the violent rage of others.
