The next game for the Fury was 9:00am Saturday against the Edmonton Twilighters, a very experienced team with one the top pitchers in the game, Darryl Tilley, throwing for them. That said the Fury got their tails handed to them in a 9 to 0 loss .

The Fury needed a good rebound effort and got that in a 10 to 3 victory against Grand Prairie (1:00pm), Scott Galenza was the winning pitcher scattering 8 hits with 1 walk and 8K’s. Scott also lead the hitting brogue by going 3 for 4 with 1 Hr, Ryan Galenza went 2 for 2 with 1 Hr, Geoff Gumpinger and Ryan Grant each had 1 Hr.

The Fury finished off the day with a barnburner, when they faced the Edmonton A’s (5:00pm). The two teams were close through out the whole game, with the Fury taking a 4 to 3 lead into the bottom of the 7th inning. After allowing a lead off walk the A’s short stop hit a first pitch walk off home run. Ryan Grant pitched 6 solid innings with 13K’s and only 3 hits; Scott Galenza took the loss in pitching the 7th inning. Ryan and Scott Galenza were the hitting stars going 3 for 4 with 2 Hr and 2 for 3 with 2 2B respectively.

The Fury finished the round robin part of the tournament with 2W’s and 2L’s good enough for 2nd place, which meant they would play the 3rd place Grand Prairie team 11:00am Sunday.

The semifinal against the Grand Prairie team went very much the same as the first meeting, with the Fury winning in 5 innings by a score of 11 to 1. Bryan Graham picked up the win, in his first game of the year, throwing 9K’s, 3 walks, and allowing only 2 hits. Andy Johnston and Ryan Galenza lead the hitting going 2 for 3 with 1 3B and 2 for 4 with 1 3B respectively.

In the final the Fury faced the Edmonton Twilighters and Darryl Tilley. They were unable to get anything going against the hard throwing right-hander and ended up losing 7 to 0 in 5 innings.

All in all it can be said that the tournament was a success, with the combination of good competition, great weather, and great fan support how couldn’t it be considered a success. The Fury would also like to thank all of the people, who brought donations for the Camrose food bank, and came out to show there support for the Fury!!
