The following words were created by some of our sex worker members
to reflect their experiences at PACE Society.
-
I am not judged.
-
No one is trying to “convert” me.
-
No one is trying to “save” me.
-
I am seen as the creative, intelligent, master of my own destiny
that I am.
-
I am valued for the unique skills I have learned as a sex
worker.
-
I am admired for my strength and resilience.
-
I have support to find the resources I
need to – whatever
my challenge is.
-
I am a comrade, not a client – you
have walked in my stilettos, we are equals.
-
I offer my expertise to create the programs and services that
can best benefit me and others like me.
-
People care about me as a person – not as a soul in
need of saving. My dignity is respected. I am not pitied or looked
down upon. I am me – beautiful, strong, vital, resilient,
powerful, intelligent and resourceful.
-
I am a leader.
-
I have influence and personal power.
-
The reality of my life is acknowledged – not
what others would choose for me based on their own perceptions
and prejudice.
-
I take care of myself. I am not treated
like a child. I am offered encouragement, comfort and guidance – hands-on
when needed.
-
My challenges and strengths are part of who I am. I am a valuable,
worthwhile, necessary and celebrated part of my community.
-
We grow powerful as a group of peers.
