December 16, 2008 - Sex Worker Human Rights Denied

PACE Society is incredibly saddened and disappointed by a decision of a BC Supreme Court judge who ruled that a group of sex workers from the Downtown Eastside will not be permitted to challenge the constitutionality of laws which criminalize them.

February 14 – Valentine’s Day Women’s Memorial March

Every year, people march in remembrance of the missing and murdered women in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Hundreds come out to express their sorrow and create awareness for how loved these women were.

June 28 – International Decriminalization of Sex Work Day

On June 28, 2003, the Prostitution Reform Act came into effect in New Zealand. Since then, much of the harm experienced by sex workers under a criminalized system has been reduced considerably and even removed in some instances. Globally, this model is the one that has had the most positive impacts on sex workers.

December 6 – Canada 's National Day of Remembrance and Action On Violence Against Women

Each year, hundreds of different women’s shoes are placed on the south steps of the Vancouver Art Gallery in remembrance not only of the 14 women killed on December 6, but for all women who have died by violence.

December 17 – International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers

Originally thought of by Dr. Annie Sprinkle and started by the Sex Workers Outreach Project USA as a memorial and vigil for the victims of the Green River Killer in Seattle Washington, the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers has become a global event with over 30 countries worldwide participating.
