Spelling Variations: Miller, Millar

 

 

Richard Miller was the first Miller to settle in Gaspe area.  He was from England.  He married Frances Annett in 1794, and they had 13 children; Thomas, John, William, Edward, George, Henry Brian, James, Richard, Maria Ann, Frederick, Melinda, Robert and Ellen.

 

 

Richard can be found in the 1825 census and the 1831 census.  In the 1825 census Richard was living in the Grand Grave area, and had 14 people in his household.  It stated in the 1831 census, that Richard Millar, living in Peninsula, owned the land he occupied; he was a Farmer; he belonged to the Church of England; and was free and common. There were 8 people in his household.
