Roberts
Spelling
variations: Robert, Roberts, Robar, Rubere, Roubier, Robear.
Peter
Robert, his wife and children came to Gaspe with his brother James and his family in 1816. They were from Prince Edward Island. James left
for New Brunswick the next year, but Peter and his family stayed in Gaspe. The first
record of Peter in Gaspe was in the 1825 census, where it states there were 7
people in P. Robert’s house. They lived in the Grande Greve area. Peter had married Margaret Ryland (Reilly) in
PEI. They had
Benjamin, Alexander, Peter(Simon) and two more children, but I am not sure of there
names. Peter’s sons Benjamin and Peter
both married Irish girls. Alex married a
West. Peter died sometime between 1825 -1829.
