Hockey Teams Picker (or HTP) is a calculator to help choose fair sports teams. 

Installation : Find the HTP.ZIP file in your "downloads" folder. "Unzip" or "extract" the files into a new  
folder on your computer like c:\HTP . You can use windows to "extract" it or a program like 7zip.  To 
make an icon on the desktop, Right-click on HTP.EXE, and select "send to" then "desktop" . If you want to delete 
the program, just delete the HTP folder and the icon.

Set-up : Press the Edit Data button to change names and skill levels. Pressing this button will close HTP and 
open the editor. As players practice they get better, and these numbers need adjustment to pick fair teams.  The 
program is set up to handle 40 players. In the HTP editor select a player, change the player name and/or skill 
level number, (between 1 and 10) then press "done" button. When you are finished adjusting the player skill 
levels  press "save" button to save the changes.  

Usage : Double-click HTP.exe or the shortcut to run it. Select all the players that are there for the game. 
Press "Pick Teams" button. The suggested teams will apear on the screen. You can press the "pick teams" button 
again to remix the teams if they are not perfect. :-) The more exact your "skill level number" is the better the 
program can pick the teams. I leave out the goalies names, just put one on each side.

Troubleshooting:
- Your browser (ie Chrome) may suggest that HTP.ZIP could be a dangerous file, it is not, click on the "arrow" and
select "keep". Your virus scanner will probably automatically scan the HTP.Zip file.
- IF the program will not run, try changing the "DEP" setting in windows. Search windows help on "DEP" for more info.

History:
We needed to pick fair teams for our ice or ball hockey games, so I wrote this
program. Hockey teams picker was originally written in circa 1984 on the 
Commodore 64 computer. Hockey Teams Picker 2 was re-written in  2010 in QBASIC.
It can run in DOS , Windows (16 or 32 bit) or on a Windows mobile Pocket pc or 
lINUX with a DOS emulator like Dosbox.HTP ver 3 is a Windows GUI program (32 bit).
I got it to work in "wine" on Linux. In 2013, New Version 3.1 has a built in player editor (ver3.1)
