Improvisational Skills | This course is designed to improve students' improvisational skills through the study of the improvising techniques of the great jazz performers, and the analysis and performance of music in the jazz repertoire. | ![]() |

Jazz History | An overview of jazz from the early days of blues through Dixie, bob, swing, etc... to modern times. Typical recorded performances are analyzed and discussed. | ![]() |

Jazz Theory | The study of skills and techniques involved in jazz and popular music. Topics include scales, modes, formal aspects of melody, chords, chord progressions, and style. Typical recorded performances are analyzed and discussed. | ![]() |

Performance Skills | A study of all aspects of musical performance, including rehearsal techniques, psychology of performance, stage deportment, and technical factors. This course is highly recommended for all students. As part of this course, it is recommended that students join ensembles. | ![]() |

| Music Scripting | The art of penmanship in the music field. Topics include types of materials used in copying music and their use. This course includes computer scripting. | |||

Theatre Arts | A practical course designed to develop skills in the performance and production aspects of theatre. Students will be encouraged to join and support local theatre groups and/or to be involved in at least one production a year. | ![]() |
