  • Generate informative reports
  • Display results in graph format
  • Export results to MSWord and MSExcel
  • Use default or user specified elimination rates
  • Choose Widmark or Michaelis-Menton methods
  • Zero order and first order elimination
  • Flexible alcohol absorption rates
  • Enter multiple beverages over different time periods
  • No limit to number of entries
  • Perform "what if" simulations
Feature
AlcoTrace Professional
DUI Professional and BHK Alcohol Simulator
Alcohol absorption
Exponential rate dependent on alcoholic concentration of beverage. Adjustment for food consumption.
Alcohol absorption evenly spaced over a time period specified by the user.
Absorption period
Governed by Widmark’s single compartment open model and exponential rate of absorption.
Time interval arbitrarily selected by the user.
Alcohol elimination
Rates selected by user. Linear at moderate and high concentrations, with optional automatic transition to corresponding exponential rates at low concentrations according to Michalelis-Menten kinetics.
Single rate selected by the user. Linear at all concentrations.
Consumption
Unlimited number of drinks with choice of domestic, metric, US or Imperial volume units. Overlapping of drinks and unlimited number of time gaps permissible. Alcohol concentration of beverage is specified by the user.
Limited number. Up to three drinks can occur at the same time. Limited time period. No provision for "gaps" in drinking. Distribution of drinking over the drinking period not adjustable. Only one drinking period allowed.
Adjustable features
Elimination rates can be adjusted to any level. Absorption rate constants can be adjusted for faster or slower absorption for each drink. Choice of adjustable Widmark R factor or Forrest formula for dilutional volume based on height, weight and gender. Option for linear elimination, and for instant absorption for research applications. Adjustment for food consumption.
Elimination rate can be adjusted to any level. Widmark R value can be adjusted. Adjustment for food consumption.
Output
Reports can be fully edited (font, size, attributes, etc.), copied, saved, printed and dumped directly into Word or Word Perfect. Graphs can be resized, colored, filled, legend, title, statistics, etc. and copied, saved, and printed.

Case specifics can be saved to a file to open and re-analyze later. Multiple cases may be open at the same time to allow comparisons of graphs and reports.

Area under the curve (AUC) presented for clinical research.
Report and graph cannot be customized. Output can only be printed in some.

Case specifics cannot be saved. Only one case may be viewed at a time.
Accuracy
Tested by sampling and results published in a major forensics journal. Correlation coefficient of 0.97 with actual measured blood alcohol readings.
No data.
